Whenever you get unsolicited recruitment spam mails, do you part and hit reply all Posted: 26 Jan 2020 03:27 PM PST You know how it is. When you're idling in one of the help channels, one of the larger public channels or even Jita local, you'll eventually get a recruitment mail. They're usually all the same: They promise everything at once with full timezone coverage, a long list of programmes and buybacks, while barely having enough members to even cover one timezone reliably or to do half the amount of stuff that they promise. Many of us have fallen into the trap of joining one of these corporations early on. We know how harmful they are to a new player's experience. Best case scenario is that the CEO is actually well-intentioned and just being clueless. Worst case scenario is that the CEO is an alt and actually just trying to get some passive income from highsec mission runner's taxes. Either way, they're not going to be active at all, encourage their members to run missions or highsec-mine in procurers without actually providing any sense of community or any opportunities that you wouldn't have in an NPC corp. So if you find a mail like that in your inbox, just hit reply all and type a few words about what kind of corp that is and how anyone who got the mail can probably do better. Maybe it can save a couple of new players from these predatory corps that do nothing but suck the fun out of the game for them. And please don't get me wrong, there's plenty of small corps that are worth joining. Small corps that focus on one playstyle are great. All power to them. But even for mostly PVE focused corps it's quite easy to tell from zkill if they're actually doing things together or if everyone just does stuff on their own or if they don't do anything at all. It's just this specific type of corp that I'm not okay with. Anyway, here's what prompted me to make this post, nothing special but I thought I'd provide an example: Got this recruitment mail [link] [comments] |

Tiericide and data sites (idea) Posted: 26 Jan 2020 06:55 PM PST Upfront tl;dr - use [current] garbage from data sites to build meta modules. As more things are starting to get tiericided, it occurs to me that with so many fits out there dependent on specific combinations of compact or other-meta modules, it would be really nice to have a way to produce those, instead of having to depend on random loot drops. Individual blueprints for each variant would result in way too many blueprints, though. So how about taking a page from invention, and have decryptor-like items that can be used during manufacturing to output compact, enduring, or restrained modules instead of the basic tech1 versions? Make basic blueprints have selectable outputs with only the relevant varieties available. Going a step further, the 'decryptor' items could be crafted from the random bits that are currently found in data sites, the ones sitting in my hangar collecting dust. And instead of having different small/medium/large/capital 'decryptor' items, you could just have more required for larger modules, to keep the process relatively simple. No doubt this would have some effect on market prices if the meta mods could just be built outright, but there'd also be a new market for the 'decryptor' items themselves. I mostly just like the idea of 1) being able to produce things that are necessary for a fit and 2) giving a use to the mostly useless data site loot. Also I'm at work on a Sunday night with nothing better to do than think about EVE. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Jan 2020 02:19 PM PST One of the things I've noticed, is that this game has lots and lots of different parts to it, and some websites help alleviate the pain of trying to learn everything, for example pathfinder helps mapping, and evepraisal helps with prices My question to r/Eve is, what's the best websites to help with EVE? Newish player looking for a hauler Corp of some sorts Posted: 26 Jan 2020 12:20 PM PST The small amount of time that I have played eve have been either gearing up for pvp or mining and I've been wanting to get into hauling and was looking for a Corp that could help me get started. Posted: 26 Jan 2020 12:34 PM PST When clicking the ship tree in your shortcut bar, sometimes it lights up with a nice bit of color, I liked seeing the different colors and decided to spam click the shortcut to see the different backgrounds. Normally you only see what is behind your shortcut bar and some tabs, but it seems this time I got lucky and managed to clear the tree itself away! Harmless, and a neat little feature.
