The Map of New Eden's Nebulae

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 07:35 AM PST

Okay... EVE. Let's settle this top-speed debate once and for all.

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 10:29 PM PST

After the abyssal update reached EVE, I always had the idea of theory-crafting the fastest ship possible.

I know there were plenty others before me, twas also before the abyssal update though.

I brainstormed a bit with a fellow Hordeling Nygil. Came up with this.

    [Claw, Literally Mach 218]

    Republic Fleet Overdrive Injector

    Navy Micro Auxiliary Power Core

    Navy Micro Auxiliary Power Core

    Navy Micro Auxiliary Power Core

    Corelum A-Type 50MN Microwarpdrive [1]

    Small Ancillary Current Router II

    Small Auxiliary Thrusters II

    Quafe Zero

    Agency 'Overclocker' SB9 Dose IV

    [1] Corelum A-Type 50MN Microwarpdrive

    Unstable 50MN Microwarpdrive Mutaplasmid

    Activation Cost: 96 (lowest)

    Maximum Velocity Bonus: 569.8% (highest)

    Powergrid Usage: 120MW (lowest)

    Implants:

    - All HG Snakes (including Omega)

    - Zor's Custom Navigation Hyper-Link

    Drugs:

    - Quafe Zero

    - Agency 'Overclocker' SB9 Dose IV

    Link ship:

    [Loki, Barebones Link]

Skirmish Command Burst II, Rapid Deployment Charge

    Loki Offensive - Support Processor

    Implants for person #2:

    - Skirmish Command Mindlink

On its own, without links or a black hole buff, it can reach 29,641 m/s.

    With links? 37,332 m/s.

With links and a black hole buff? 74,664 m/s.

Whether or not it would make it to max speed before capping out? I'm not enough of a nerd to math that one out.

Speaking of links, here's all the pyfa details. :-)

    Base: https://prnt.sc/r008ly

    w/ Links: https://prnt.sc/r008r0

    w/ C6 "Black Hole" Buff: https://prnt.sc/r008x1

    Try and beat that, EVE!

(seriously, if someone can beat this without glitching, let me know)

    edit:

A kind EVE player (by the name of vaminos) informed me there was a ship that could reach this speed: https://imgur.com/a/RZFfUpF

I quickly assumed it was the one ship I forgot to include, the Gold Magnate.

Buttttt... since a gold magnate is rather excruciatingly rare, can we simply classify this as the most feasible speed-demon on EVE? yeaaahhh??

    noooo...?? okay okay fineee.

Said EVE-player also didn't reveal the full fit, but here's a damn close recreation of it, only 100m/s slower.

    https://prnt.sc/r01ilp

    Same drugs/implants/links from before.

I seriously can't find whatever he added to get that extra 100m/s. If anyone can beat that record I'd be surely impressed.

This is a level of micro-tweaking that I'm too lazy to look into.

    RC vs Provi AAR

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 07:42 PM PST

Had helped some friends take a Provi R64 moon and put their own Athanor. Provi decided to contest it and a small fight occurred.

Provi formed to contest the timer today

Provi won the objective and only barely lost the isk war

The ensuing fight is one of the largest this year to date. Over 160b destroyed between both sides

GF provi, I look forward to fighting over the moon again at some point.

    Finally received bot ban emails!

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 03:53 PM PST

A few months ago I made a post outlining potential bots rampant in the Black Rise email. https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/eft50s/updated_list_of_bots_in_the_calgal_warzone/

These bots would run missions 12+ hours a day in packs of 2-3. If you called their name out, they would have scripted responses. Usually placing a 1 mil bounty, or swearing at you in Russian.

Some of them were botting, but real people would answer, leading me to believe they linked eve chat to their phones so they could respond while the bots ran.

Of the 30 or so bots I identified in my post, 23 were banned - based on the 23 emails I got.

Might resub for a month to see if it helps stabilize the FW market. Always report bots!! These bannings have restored a little faith in CCP

    Fanfest 2008

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 12:35 PM PST

No, that's not a typo. I really mean Fanfest 2008.

    Why bring it up?

Well, i've had the videos from that fanfest sit on a backup disk for nigh on a decade now.

The videos were removed from CCP's own Youtube channel back when they deleted everything and wanted to re-upload it in better quality, but they never got around to re-uploading most of their stuff from before that big wipe.

Still, for some reason i saved these back then, and since CCP doesn't actually seem to have their own videos anymore i thought it'd be an idea to upload them somewhere, even if it's just a kind of time capsule.

    So, without further ado:

    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLv4L_LO2eAM00m9zIjX2W0AX1-TOUTLyr

Just for the hardcore fans, i suppose. The first Walking in Stations talk is still pretty interesting though IMHO (how did we go from that to just CQ 3 years later!?), and World Domination shows a Dust 514 teaser at 1:05:22 without commenting on it, almost a year before the game was actually announced, which i always found interesting.

    Solo no more

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 04:57 PM PST

I've been playing solo for the last 2 months since I joined eve and although I've learnt relatively quite a bit but I feel that playing solo can be slightly depressing. I'm simply unable to find a right corp where A) I'm not a lost soul amongst millions (I've been told to avoid big corps like PH, KM etc) and B) I'm not one amongst a couple of alts (I've tried more dormant corps than I should have). I'm also sick of getting killed by caps everytime i decide to see what the null looks like in my atron or comet. Are these mega corps that bad a news for a newbie?

Iron Crown may join the Goons?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 01:07 PM PST

According to some informants, Iron Crown is planning to move out from Deklein to Delve. However, there is no direct evidence to show whether they will join the The Imperium as a renter alliance or they will disband and let its existed corps to join Goons. More details are still needed.

    Update:

Basically, due to there are too many characters be afk in Iron Crown(this alliance has more than 800 characters in dotlan. However, they only have less than 15 active characters in DeadCo. ops), they have to merge the whole alliance into a single corp before joining goons. And it is said that they will be a renter corp for goons.

    Literally unplayable (EVE has sound?)

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 12:46 PM PST

I realised that the option in Settings -> Audio called Override dynamic music with Classic EVE music doesn't seem to work. This used to cause old EVE music to play even in nullsec, wormholes etc, while now it looks like it has no effect and all I hear is that stupid nullsec music.

Before I create a ticket for it and make a fool of myself, is this a known problem or even *gasp* a feature? For now I'm using https://ashyin.space/jukebox.html but that's suboptimal.

Current State of NPSI in EVE

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 03:15 PM PST

What are the current outlets for NPSI activity? Who is active? I know Spectre was a big provider in NPSI fleets but are they still having leadership and website issues? Bombers Bar are forever doing their thing, but is anyone trying to build something to be more reliable for pilots?

    Character portrait not showing up

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 11:15 PM PST

So, one of my alts portraits has never shown up. It shows up on character select, but that is the extent. Doesn't even show on Zkill. I am just curious if anyone else has had this problem, and if there is a way to fix it, as I am rather proud of the character (not for it's killboard or anything).

Any help is appreciated, Thank you!

Abyssal Modules - Naming Improvement w/ Base Module

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 10:54 AM PST

Abyssal modules, compared to regular modules, have an odd naming convention. Because of that, killing ships equipped with Abyssal modules makes it really hard to have any idea about the fitting stats (unless they drop, obviously), which has always been something Eve was transparent about in killmails.

This leads to another issue we all noticed: prices for expensive ships, using for example faction, deadspace or officer modules turned to Abyssal, are completely off on killboards and killmails (systematically priced at 0.01 ISK). The last part is when trading, where "Abyssal Damage Control" for example means nothing as we don't know what base module was used until we have the link.

Which led to me having the following suggestion (and I'm sure I'm not the first one to think about it): for a given abyssal module, its name should reflect what base module was used instead of the generic category name. That way the fitting remain fairly transparent, the killboards can use that name to reflect the prices and you know straight away the potential stat of an abyssal module when trading.

Example: Sentient Damage Control turned to Abyssal

      - currently called "Abyssal Damage Control" (no idea of base module and base stats, 0.01 ISK on killboard)

      - would be called "Abyssal Sentient Damage Control" (base module and base stats known, 250M ISK on killboard)

Edit: some are complaining that they use shit abyssal modules and therefore the price of the original module might not reflect his stats. Even if that is true, that's your problem if you want to fit an abyssal module on your ship that is not worth as much as the original module, and no matter how you look at it, you had to get the base module anyway so the value displayed would be correct. You just had bad luck :)
