    friendship friday nice thread (◕‿◕✿)

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 09:20 AM PDT

it's time to forget about in-game standings and just be nice to each other because we're good men (◡‿◡✿)

you know the rules, it's friday so it's time for this week's friendship friday nice thread. in this thread, we post without any caps at all and we post what we appreciate about eve and the people who play it. (◕‿◕✿) here are the rules:

    • do not use any capital letters. if someone forgets this rule or does not follow it, don't be that guy/gal. we're all about positivity and acceptance here, no matter the grammar (✿◠‿◠)

    • talk about what you appreciate or what is good with eve, or life, or whatever else you're appreciative of this week (◕‿◕✿)

    • players will agree with you in all lowercase

    • talking about what we appreciate will form a positive relational bond in the eve community

happy friday friends, hope you all have relaxing weekends (◕‿◕✿)

Hot take - you're all garbage

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:46 AM PDT

Like holy shit, I can't even count how many posts there have been over the last couple of days chestbeating about how fucking awful the other bad man alliance leadership is. If recent posting is to be believed, none of you should be in your current alliances due to toxicity. Either put your money where your mouth is by quitting your current alliance and joining/creating a non-toxic one, or quit the "your leadership is more toxic than MY leadership" game. Just shoot some spaceships, like goddamn, dude.

    Brave anchors Fortizar in Querious!

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 10:09 PM PDT

Subcaps cleared the bubbles on the 4-07 gate in 49-U as the caps warped to the 4-07 regional. One Brave Minokawa pilot who totally wasn't me forgot that he left his links running and couldn't jump when it was crunch time and the bubbles were gone. Suddenly, more Sabres. Six Goon dreads undocked after they used what seemed like a few billion Sabres as ammunition to keep us pinned in place. We fed two Minokawas and a Phoenix to the shrieking horde of Good dreadbombers while many more jumped to the newly anchored Fortizar.

They always told us we'd never make it through the regional gate, but here we are, tents firmly planted in a cozy bit of floodplain.

GF to the Goons who showed up and exploded us. I would have gotten my Minokawa out of there if I hadn't taken a fat bong rip before the fleet kicked off.

MASSIVELY ISK negative, massively fun positive. Such is life in Brave. <3

    On Reddit Shitposting

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 09:49 PM PDT

Groups of friends banter with one another. They spend hours around a bar table cracking dumb jokes, telling stories, and parroting their own witticisms. Applied to internet communities, this is colloquially known as "shitposting" – distinct from shit posting. Banter is well and good, but over time it gives rise to an interesting phenomenon: "the shitposter" - the class clown of the internet.

I bring this up this because posting to the r/eve subreddit has become in vogue again with the start of another internet spaceship war. Propaganda, tribal arguing, general forum warring, and unironic ~reddit PsyOps~ (cripes) have begun. And I've noticed quite a few people–mostly newer, but some older–beginning to fall into a common trap.

At times people can lose sight of the context for the joking, and it turns from friends bantering with one another into outright attention-seeking behavior. That is: at a certain point it turns from "I have something to say in this conversation" to "I need to find something to say so people notice me and I get the good chemicals." Over time, you start posting for the sake of posting. And invariably, the quality of these posts drop drastically – along with peoples' opinion of you. You start trying harder and harder to get the same reactions and resulting reward.

This is not a place you want to be, my friends.

This war has brought upon the EVE subreddit a wave of exceptionally low-quality posts from people desperately hoping to get ~the good chemicals~ with some tribalism nonsense and a 25 second trip to mspaint. I find it irksome enough that I've started posting to reddit again specifically to dunk on them – not because a member of the opposing spaceship team criticized my spaceship team, but because these posts and their takes are exceptionally bad. The banter isn't actually good banter, it's just posting for its own sake and I find it mind boggling how the authors could feel anything other than intense embarassment.

Please, I beg you: make better posts.

To learn how to take the next step and become a better poster, study The Hratli Smirks Guide to Posting.

Reminder - EVE is a game

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 05:48 AM PDT

EVE is just a game, stop taking it so serious and personal...I think we can all agree there is already to much shit going on RL.

new pilot been playing for about three weeks

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 09:49 PM PDT

    hey all

i was having some trouble making some isk until another pilot told me to do some wormhole exploration, and i started making isk hand over foot, problem is i dont have any weapons on my heron and i dont think any i could put on it would do much damage. i am also tired of coming upon a data or relic site and having to run away because there are enemies there, what is a good ship and loadout for an alpha player to use in this situation i was thinking of getting a carcal with my isk and using that still if there is anything better please let me know thanks.

    New player Scamming experience

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 11:46 AM PDT

    Hi everybody.

I know scamming is allowed, i'm not complaining about the practice nor the people who do it but i would like to share something that happend to me today.

I got a bunch of Accelerator Boosters for referring my friends, which i tried to sell in a item exchange contract because it's cheaper on the taxes/broker fee's for me. Only 10 minutes after i created it some guy started a privat convo with me and asked all kinds of questions, felt like he was feeling me out:

    https://gyazo.com/6b8e34243fd49a4a34e018a36d9223a9

As he was negotiating with me about my contract, telling me to do the deal in a item-exchange window without taxes, i got weird vibes and just googled "eve item window scam"

Lo and behold i find this : https://forums.eveonline.com/t/trade-window-scamming-is-now-bannable/120446 , top google search, the same guy i am writing with in this very moment made a post about "Trade window scamming is now bannable" complaining that it is now forbidden.

I obviously confronted him with it to see his reaction and he basically ignored it and sent me this: https://gyazo.com/4b49f883c50c38e929733a85086e7b1d which i suppose is another low effort attempt to not only give away my Accelerators for free but also pay him the sum he promised me.

Now, i consider all of this very obvious and low effort scamming even tho i only play EVE for 2 weeks, i can't see how anyone falls for this on a good day. I'm playing with a lot of other new people and i feel a responsibility to educate them on this subject as this could have escalated into a heavy loss for me on a bad day.

Can someone explain to me how this person would have scammed me initially with the trade window he opened up with me, i didn't know this mechanic existed so i was not comfortable fucking around with him in there, even tho i was certain he would try to scam me.

Also i would like to emphasis again that i appreciate the beautiful freedom CCP gives it's player base and if scamming brandnew players into oblivion is part of that, i accept that.

Thanks for reading and any advise given in the comments on said subject!

    Capitals (and Supercapitals) warfare

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 12:23 AM PDT

    Hi All,

I have been searching for in-depth information about capital and supercapitals warfare, but I couldn't find anything really useful.

Does anyone know where I can find something?

Any answer with a detailed explanation would be appreciated too, of course, but I understand that it might be a long writing...

I am afraid it will take years before experiencing something like that first-hand, due to the money and SPs required to fly those ships.

    Many thanks!

    Crash problem with Eve-O Preview

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 06:25 PM PDT

I'm running into a problem where often when I start up Eve-O and then Eve, the preview windows will open and display for a short time, and then the application crashes. There's no dialogue box or any other notice, the preview windows disappear and Eve-O disappears from my taskbar.

Anyone experienced this, and any suggestions?

Orca vs Hulk for Solo Mining

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 05:00 PM PDT

I currently use an Orca to mine solo with command bursts, etc that are hopefully affecting my drones?

I am wondering if the Hulk would actually mine faster solo, I have no idea how to figure this out. Any advice?
