An encouragement to all my newbro mates! Posted: 15 Apr 2021 03:37 PM PDT I joined a fleet today. Nothing strange about that, I join many fleets. This fleet was under the FC I fly most with, so nothing different about that either. What was new for me was the doctrine: the ping called for Cerberus and Scimitars, and I can't fly those yet. So I hopped in a Punisher I had in my hangar. I like the Punisher, it's a very sturdy ship that can take a hit or two. Although I'm not a stranger to the ship, I had never flown tackle in a fleet before, that made me feel a bit uncertain about my abilities to do anything meaningful. FC calls for undock, and I follow. We take the bridge, I stay anchored, and I see purple interceptors flying in the distance, so I think I'm already doing something wrong. We warp close to the enemies, and I decide to fly by myself, and try to, well, tackle something. I get close to a ship (I think it was a Hurricane), and I grab it with my scram. Orbit him close, he's slow, can't warp anywhere, and can't use his microwarpdrive either, so win for little Yun. I'm expecting to die at anytime now, there's no way I can survive after I tackle an enemy, right? To my surprise, I didn't die for a long time. I see someone target me, but he didn't shoot. Then a lot of enemies target me, and I think that's it. First enemy shoots me, I don't even lose half my shields, and then I remember my FC saying "they're using Heavy Missiles", and I realised I wouldn't die for some time! It took two to three volleys for them to kill me, I didn't even broadcast for reps, and I got some, so props to our logi. Those missiles could've hit our Scimitars, or our Cerberus, or our Rorquals, but they came to me, because I was messing with this one Hurricane's positioning. I was a pebble in their fleet's shoe! And with that, I realised something: I was meaningful to the fleet. So, this is for my newbro mates who think (as I did) that they need to wait to fly Cerberus, or Gilas, or Kikis, or Basilisks, Scimitars and Kirins to help a fleet: every ship counts! And now when I hear that, I know it's true, and you should too. Hope to see you in space! [link] [comments] |
I think the magic 13 and other support skills should be quest rewards at this point. Posted: 15 Apr 2021 04:50 PM PDT I think that the magic 13 and other support skills should be able to be gained via quest rewards. These skills are so boring for new people to train and was honestly the reason I quit the first time. These skills are just forced training wheels on new player that handicap their time looking forward to something new when they just wanna ride their bike. The game is old, and new players already feel behind just or not. Yea, it is easier than before, but like the game isn't growing so why not make it easier for new people to skill up on universal skills? The quests can be scattered around the space. Known systems for certain skills so they can be camped, hunted, if in NS/WH - owned. Could make people try to get to certain areas that they might not of never gone too. Would add something, but take away nothing. The only thing it adds is astrometrics 5 (This skills has to be in Thera) for most people. You could even make it educational on how to use the tools that are used by the skills, but that might be asking too much. p.s. I don't like my skill plan [link] [comments] |
Unpopular Opinion: Capital proliferation was not an issue Posted: 15 Apr 2021 10:20 AM PDT The days of super ratting and rorqual mining was awesome. Every weekend you saw large groups of people jumping in and out of wormholes dropping on supers and rorquals all over null sec. Each weekend bombers bar or some random wormhole group would kill a number of supers, Delve seemed to lose 3+ a day on the weekends. Bombers Bar was a great example of why this time was fun. The BB fleets were massive on the weekends, this was great content for all. Sure, a super fleet would get dropped on you at some point, but that was expected. It was fun trying to get the kill and get out before they arrived. People would setup multiple drops to pull the super umbrella away from the main attack. This was good because it put people in space with big expensive toys, and people got a chance to kill them. I mean, look at this current war, some could argue part of the reason it was started is because Initiative farmed Legacy so hard they switched sides. Now once the war is over, what do we have to look forward to? Ten person roaming gangs running around killing Gila's and Ishtars. Waiting 45 minutes for the enemy to form a HAC fleet to kill you or chase you off. No thanks, I miss the day's of carefree capital pilots dropping their supers on the ten person fleet and letting us have a little fun with them before the 80 HACs show up. I am sure that carefree pilot is still out there, but how long before they lose that super? They likely will not replace it, and now all I have to look forward to is the HAC response fleet. MY UNPOPULAT OPINION: mining, under the microscope, with a foulmouthed ape. Posted: 15 Apr 2021 10:57 AM PDT So, here is my unpopular opinion, so unpopular, i literary had to hop on an old account because if this got associated with my main account i would hear absolutely no end of it. So here goes. Orcas, yeah? Yeah. You call it an industrial command ship, yet do not grant it the title of battleship, no you give it a battle cruiser moniker, and go "oh no its own thing" god fucking damn it. really? Here is what you should do, you should effin keep it to the same style as you do everything else, why of all things, make industry complicated like that for no reason? You have your T1 and T2 smaller hulls. PvP gets all the love in the world with their T3`s why can't miners get one? For crying out loud they do spend the most hours of anyone actually doing the building thing, HOW ON EARTH can you like totally neglect that? am not here to gripe about the nerfs, i mean you can only beat a dead horse so many times before it stops being fun, and let me tell you, it did, a long ass fucking time ago, before the scarcity thing even was in effect. that being said. a little piece of opinion, dont nerf the orca, buff the damn thing, a T2 mining barge costs a fraction of the price, why should this cheapo poor get to mine more? Its bullshit. and CCP knows it. The list for T1 mining ships should go Venture frig, Barge cruiser, porpoise battle cruiser and orca battleship, if anyone hasn't figured out a coequal is a capital yet, give them another box set of crayons. But let me go further, you absolute imbeciles. i would accuse you of being dirt eating crayon in the nose full diaper babies, but ive been told that isn't nice, we will hereby refer to you as imbeciles. T2`s yeah? Yeah, lets talk T2`s Frigates? yeah! totally fine. T2`s let me explain a few things, alright, so we all understand that T2 barges wont outrun a gate camp, or hell a high sec gank or anything like that, they just wont, never will, if you have a story, the guys on the other side of that story have their own box of crayons and you just happened to get by because their mouths or noses were full. THAT does not make it acceptable that their only real bonuses are yield and tank, like what the actual fuck, if i told you, your Ishtar would only get either a buff in tank, or a buff in drones. no other valuable stat changes, resistance profile changes or even mobility. you'd totally go and buy that for 400 something mil right? Yeah, you absolute crayon eater. Where is the cloaking barge? where is your gas huffing, ice specialized or for the love of bob, dscan immune barge? lol, right? Like if ccp would ever make these changes? Let me tell you a few more things that would be fun. So, we have established PVPers and ratters get all the luv with t3`s HOW ABOUT and hold on to your god-damn knickers here boys.... if you made a T3 orca, yeah thats fucking right, a T3 fucking orca. Same deal as with the two other t3s, BUT you combine subsystems, AND Modes yeah you fucking heard me, and il tell you why. Crayon eater. Let's get into Modes first, then subsystems allright, as you guys all know, there are currently 3 types of mining worth mentioning here. 1. Ore 2. Gas. 3 ice Yeah you guessed it. a mode for EACH. Subsystems, to let you decide if you want to be an active miner, a booster, or passive miner. what sec or J you want to rat inn to get you some specific weather or atributes that specifically tailor it to your current occupation! NEXT FUCKING UP and this one, this one is a thing where in my humble, well spoken and absolutely not rude at all opinion.... where in the holy est of fuck are gas mining drones? Like for real? and just to end this off with something here, faction gas huffers. Bro. what the actual fuck. Why, WHY does this bullshit of an item cost more then 5 top tier prospects? are you gonna fit these on a battleship ? Why are miners a joke to you ccp? Why? Did a miner tell you he was effin your mom? Wait, no thats minors. Damn, i cant, i cant realy think of a thing where "this one thing" made ccp hate miners. OH AND FUCKING PI, WHY in the HOLY EST of fuck do you want to give us carpal tunnel? i mean, i get it, EvE echoes didn't do many things right, but fuck me if they didn't get PI right, and if thats too much to ask, that you get your GOD DAMN MAIN GAME ON THE SAME LEVEL AS YOUR OUTSOURCED MOBILE PLATFORM, you absolute donkeys. Why can't you let us get something simple like a "stored setup" where i find a setup that works for my planet, copy it, and send it to a god-damn corp mate, alliance buddy, neutral noobie or whatever, WHY OH WHY is this too hard for you to fix? Like god-damn, FIX industry, and i mean, im all on board with your new revamp, its great! dont get me wrong here, MUCH love for that, you have made my wallets fat. On multiple accounts. BUT i mean, WHY DO YOU INSIST on beating a dead god-damn horse, REVAMP the shit already, PI hasn't seen a meaningful change in how its done since 09. For that fucking matter, when the FUCK did you drop a new mining ship? i mean really? It takes you apes 5 years + to get an idea of this shit broken yo. maaaaaan i literary sub so many accounts i can pay for at least 1 or two of your employs`s salaries a month due to multi boxing, in a modest apartment somewhere roughly centrally within bike range of your HQ and i guarantee this post will die in new uncommented and untouched. "Its just one voice" kind of thing, and calling you a lot of colorful things for flavor, fun and trying not to cry when i write this, i mean, take it like a good little highseccer, to cheering applause from the monkeys in null, the low sec scum or the wormhole weebs. when you drop the soap. You get the picture, we get the picture. Everyone got it, k thx bye. sidenote, i have shamelessly stolen a few of these ideas, they are not mine, they are "comunity sourced" [link] [comments] |

Posted: 15 Apr 2021 08:25 AM PDT Dock Does Defense (DDD) – Somewhat? The gerbils of the docks have been stagnant. With the too little too late changes to cage and wheel production looming across the galaxy, we've been forced to horde and stockpile food pellets and production materials for the harsh, forced winter ahead thanks to the omnipotent developers. Whilst master builder gerbil Saeka toiled away at his pellet production facility, he quickly came to realize it was under attack. So begins the story of three structures destined to come out of RF within hours of each other. A few days back, Snuffles decides to hit two of our Forts and an Azbel. As tears of joy softly rolled down my face at the mere thought of having all of us back in station together, the defense plans began to be laid. The first structure to come out, a Fortizar, is positioned in Auga and was placed for a meme tracing back to our foundry (Miss you Siana). While important to our idiocracy, the fort timer came out at such a time that we had no intention of defending. Fast forward to last night when Val pings light up my phone on the drive home (sorry to the cars I cut off whilst speeding). The rage form worked, and we met our contenders on the field with one of our least utilized doctrines, Nightmares. Many volleys were traded with few ships going down on both sides, largely due to critical mistakes. Out of nowhere, weaponized autism came out of the breach to our aid, a magus fleet. (Does this mean I have to like Mikal now? – Twizted 2021) The magus fleet pushed us over the edge and the meme Fort lives to fight another day. A Fort and Azbel were set to come out in one system (SASH Help). Dock met up with the Clique with the intention of turning the Mach feed dial to low this time around. Snuffles brought long range revs to hit our Fort supported by approximately 75 TFI and Fax. With anemic DPS but a strong tank, the revs held against the Fort. Our heavily plated Fortizar continued to take a wailing with little HP loss. Thus signals the ride of the Machariel at even battleship numbers to our combatant. Once in system, we spent time patiently setting up. Sparton, Valasius, and Mikal ready the chariots, and we were off. Down streamed a wing of cancer tackle/ewar frigs onto the TFIs with our arty Machs landing shortly after. "I say, good volley chaps!", Sparton yells. So began the game of cat and mouse. Snuffles warped, leaving stragglers behind to get wiped, and attempted to land on us several times, but we remained slightly ahead. Several more opportunities arose for Mikal to coordinate the frig cancer upon them. It worked, well. We eventually turned our attention to the hostile revs, wiping two out and thus allowing the fort to begin repairing further. Sensing that the force was not with them in subs, Snuffles utilizes the capital card. Rather than turn the feed dial to high against carriers, we rightfully retreat, having milked out much more than the structure is worth. The Fort is rf'd, but the boys are all smiles. After DOCK arrived in our ancestral homeland, a kiki fleet was announced. It was time to go back and defang for old times sake. The boys rallied and came to the aid of our now vulnerable Azbel. Fighters, fighters everywhere. We hold well whilst destroying the fighter menace. We booshed a loki off of fax and killed it while continuing the defanging journey until their RF was complete. We managed to tackle and kill a Thanatos as their fleet warped as well. So ends the night of defending. Good job Snuffles and friends. In the words of my personal hero, Meat Loaf, "Two out of three ain't bad". BR: Here Video: Here A massive thank you to the dudes in dock and the clique. The FC comms last night were near flawless. See you all on the field. -Mel [link] [comments] |
