"Slowly blow on the embers to watch them grow brightly" (Video)

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 03:54 PM PST

This video of the series, is a little different than previous episodes. Certainly, it has strong logistics' action, as "Six of Spades" is a logistics series, although it is portrayed a little differently, sometimes in more intimate and close details of this story, than before. The engagements in this video are from eight month period without exceptions or filtering. In other words, most significant fights that were managed to be recorded during that period, are all in this video. As calmly blown embers ignite and glow blightly, so does our paths in New Eden.

Editorial note: for highest quality experience, it is very strongly recommended to watch the video at 1440p60HD via YouTube, regardless of the display size you will be watching it on. FRAPS recordings were 1600x1200 (4:3 ratio), thus it was upscaled by 1.2 to turn into 1920x1440 (4:3 ratio) on a 2560x1440 canvas. This is to battle YouTube platform's encoding quality. Anything that is 1080p or lower, does not go higher than an average of 3 Mbps rate in video quality, whereas at 1440p, the encoding caps at average of 15 Mbps rate.

P.S. - There is one, not critical or detremental error in text in the video, which hopefully will not confuse the viewers. Although I'd like to believe that what in fact happened, is that a certain region of New Eden, was expanded.

How do I recharge my lasers?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 05:29 PM PST

Okay, I know I'm probably either going to get ignored or "google it", but I did google it, and this game isn't the kind of game that gives easy answers. I think I need some kind of focusing crystal? As it is, the charges on my laser beam cannons are gone and I've docked and tried to buy them from the market, but I honestly can't figure out what exactly I'm looking for or doing. I googled it the best I could—I know how unforgiving this community can be. So I'm hoping on the kindness of strangers. Thanks in advance.

Can I Get an F In Chat...

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 11:50 AM PST

So for some context, I took a 5 or so month break and came back to an alpha character. I don't have much money irl so I cant afford to pay for omega. All I had was a few ships left in the npc station I was living out of so i figured Id take my Gila (most expensive ship I owned) and run some T2 abyssal sites to try and slowly grind up to an omega again. Mind you it was fitted about 5 months ago and I ran them a lot as an omega with no issues. Well... I made a big mistake. I warped to a planet and deside that I'm ready to jump into the site after making myself some food and preparing myself for whats about to happen. But the thing I didn't think of... Alphas cant use t2 medium drones... lost my gila on the 3rd room (mind you i was using only light missiles at that point... Lost pretty much all of my liquid isk lol. Pretty shitty day for ya boy.

    Kill Mail: https://zkillboard.com/kill/79735863/

Edit: To the kind soul who sent me 2 billion isk for Omega you won't be forgotten. I will take this act of kindness and return it to the eve community whenever I get the next chance too. Much love family.

F in chat for ya boy...

Why is CCP afraid to introduce key changes?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 06:22 PM PST

    1. Resource depletion.
    2. Unique local materials.
    3. Limiting the number of structures/timers/grind.

Anyone who has taken even the most basic political science or international relations class knows some of the key reasons countries go to war is because of resource scarcity, materials that can only be found in one country in abundance, and infrastructure instability. So in these classes we literally learn how to address these issues so wars DON'T go to war. Seems like CCP has taken these classes as well because the game as it stands right now addresses these "war causing issues" well.

There's no resources scarcity, you can pretty much get all the materials in 0.0 regardless of where you are, and the structures provide stability that dissuades conflict and encourages turtling.

It doesn't make sense to anyone that the more you mine an area...the more ores spawn. These should deplete. It's not so much "farms and fields" as it stands as it is Alibaba's cave of never ending treasures. Scarcity would encourage people to "raid into each other's territories." Steal each other's ores. The ADM system should be redone with ADMs being based on low HP low cost structures people can skirmish over. The fun part of "farms and fields" is the idea that you get to burn the farm. While this shouldn't indefinitely cripple the locals, it should encourages conflict and counter raiding.

Unique materials should mean you can only get X types of materials in Y regions. You see this pretty well done with drug production which relies on huffing region unique gasses that you need to mix to get the higher end profitable stuff. Most people are unaware of this but there's an ongoing "drug war" of sorts happening in the background because of this between different producers. They have to trade with particular groups or fight others and sometimes this is even within the same coalition. Years ago when I was in NCdot one of our best trading partners was in Imperium while our producing rivals were in GOTG who officially we were friendly with. Another example would be the various ice intredictions, the technetium moon cartel and so on. Localize certain key resources and you'll see people fighting more, making trade agreements, eventually breaking them and then fighting some more.

Structures suck. The moon ones are way too overbearing. The basic astras are too hard to grind. There's no more "speed" in warfare. The numerous issues we all know have been listed better elsewhere.

But the question remains why is CCP afraid to implement some of these very basic things? Do they think of conflict as too brutal it would push people away? That's the feeling I get. "Keep things safe and steady for as long as we can." I don't hate CCP and it's obnoxious to see people give them so much hate. But I don't see why these things couldn't be implemented within months. They've known about the structure grind issues. The sources depletion I would hope doesn't require them to re-code the entire game.

On our end as the player community I think we need to stop being so shitty and negative toward CCP. I think part of the problem is that they're afraid of taking risks because the community is so loud and critical sometimes. You have players foaming at the mouth because their favorite ship has a 4% bonus instead of 5% and suddenly the apocalypse is upon them. I'm not saying we go full Matterall 1984 but perhaps we can temper our attitude and approach with a touch of humility once in a while.

Price check of a 6+ year old "Collectors" Revelation that has Large Trimark 1s instead of Capital rigs

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 06:58 PM PST

Hi, so I just took a peek at my revelation and noticed its fit with large rigs instead of capital ones. That makes it more than 6 years old since capital rigs came out in 2013. A few corp mates told me collectors of novelty ships like this have paid several times the regular price of a rev. Does anyone know what something like this might go for? Thanks in advance!

Tracking Moon Mining Schedules via api

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 04:43 PM PST

    Hey,

So moon mining. Your corp has moons. There are public moons around you open for anybody to mine. Other moons you might have an arrangement with the corp to mine there.

How are folks keeping up with schedules beyond flying around to see what is available when? Anything we can do via api?

All I've come up with so far is pulling corp calendar entries and parsing for moon drill events, but it's unlikely other corps are going to want to share their calendars so that seems like a bust.

    Appreciate any thoughts or creativity.

    Solo PvP needs some love

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 03:57 AM PST

Short version: CCPlease fix solo PvP

The fact that combat capable ships can fit stabs with little nerf to their abilities is making solo roaming basicly a waste of time in nullsec.
For example roaming for an hour gives you the following results:
    - warping around for an hour.

    - see infinite amount of gila/ishtar/domi/praxis warp of to their safe space even before you load grid properly. This is due to the fact that you appear in local about 10 seconds before you load grid and are able to spot somebody on Dscan.

    - when you finally land on a ratter it can warp anytime before you lock it and if you actually succeed in pointing it due to some miracle it just warps off because it's ratting in a stabbed ship.

    I suggest the following:

At least a 15 second delay of your name appearing in local, or untill you break your gatecloak. This enable roamers to load the grid and see if there is anything out ratting or mining.

Stabs need a nerf. Either allow it to only fit on industrials or nerf dps/tank on combat capable ships.

More warp disruption in sites to make it more risky to run havens all day urr day.

And how about some change in code on the npcs to not change dps/ewar from the ratter to the ganker. Because NPC's are so diplomaticly retarded they shoot the guy that's helping them kill the dude that's been farming them all day.

    Insert REEEE below :)

    Solo loki engagement profile

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 03:22 AM PST

Title. I'm talking about cloaky HAML active shield Loki. Planning to solo hunt in WHs and I want to get the basic knowledge about targets I definitely should engage/avoid. Thanks!

P.S I know that I should just go and try and learn on my own mistakes but assuming price of good Loki fit I want to know basic rules. As a semi-noob I still don't know much regarding everything above t1 cruisers but I still want to try this kind of gameplay out.

    Edit. Thanks for the help!
