    Latency in hacking minigame

    Posted: 19 Mar 2020 06:14 PM PDT

I was wondering if this gak happens to anyone else. Game is super smooth, enter hacking game and lots of actions are 1-2 seconds delayed. Playing the game, plus things like D-scan are full of latency. This disappears as soon as the minigame closes.

    Example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-i71NZuLOp8

I dont feel like its on my end. 4790k / 1080ti / Fiber. And the game plays lovely any other time.

Started like a month ago. Curious if other have dealt with similar.

An idea for a simple mechanics change to combat the FW "Pendulum" phenomenon

    Posted: 19 Mar 2020 01:46 PM PDT

The Pendulum refers to a bullshit phenomenon in which players will change which FW faction they enlist in primarily based on, among other factors, the current faction tier multipliers (which is determined by territorial control). Players from losing factions will switch sides to winning factions until the LP to ISK conversions of goods from the FW corp LP stores become so unprofitable from the surge of items seeding market that they switch sides again to the now-more-profitable losing side. You constantly have a back-and-forth pendulum swing of sides that are winning and losing by wide margins that are determined on the basis of economic factors rather than actual militia-wide collaborative efforts. This is not desirable behavior. Here I present a simple idea that I believe will mitigate the momentum of The Pendulum by forcing it to rest in the center.

In many games, losers have a unique "loser bonus" that helps them regain their footing, but isn't in itself desirable (or desirable enough) to have in favor of winner bonuses. Perhaps a simple way to prevent The Pendulum from occurring in FW (or at least mitigate its momentum) is to give T1 and T2 factions a loser bonus: T1 and T2 factions will have a capture speed bonus at plexes, thereby making T3 "the center of gravity". That is, if your militia faction is below T3, it will be easier to get to T3, but once you're at T3 you'll have standard capturing speed at and above T3. Since both factions can simultaneously be T3, it would not be unfair to either side. Example capture speed bonuses worth considering: 1.5x/1.25x, 1.25x/1.25x, 1.5x/1x (ie. T2 doesn't get the bonus - since they get 100% LP there would no need - but T3 won't be a center of gravity anymore). Personally I'd be in favor of the 1.5x/1.25x, but any of these would be an improvement in my opinion.

The nice thing about this change is that it would not require any sweeping gameplay mechanic changes, and it would encourage more militia-wide cooperation in order for a faction to go above T3 for at least two reasons:

    • If your faction is at T3/T4/T5, systems actively being o-plexed by enemy militia in the T1/T2 bracket would need to be actively d-plexed since they might be able to take over your territories faster than you can take over theirs. With defending contested complexes comes more opportunity for PVP and LP to be gained from PVP (esp. after the recently announced Loyalty to Lowset patch). D-plexing is often taken for granted (more often than not, an entire batch of systems is lost because their defense was neglected in favor of trying to capture new ones), so I consider an increased incentive to d-plex to be a good thing.
    • If your faction is at T1/T2, there should be an increased motivation for the militia to collectively take advantage of the T1/T2 capture bonus. At worst, if a large chunk of the militia is not plexing, the remaining militiamen can still help bring the faction to at least the T2 bracket, possibly even T3. (I can't tell you how often I've seen a hundred militiamen fleeted up to bash a single POS instead of o-plexing when the faction is at T1 with only 7% territorial control... talk about missing the forest for the trees…) This proposed change should provide some initiative for militiamen to actually engage in FW-specific PVP rather than regular PVP at warzones. At the very least, I hope to see regular PVP efforts like POS bashing delayed until the faction tier is at T2 or higher rather than T1.

In short, giving T1 and T2 faction tiers a capture rate bonus helps mitigate The Pendulum because any vast discrepancy that exists between two factions should be more easily closed (resting the pendulum in the center), but at the same time additional collaboration will be required among the entire militia to maintain and advance past T3 (and keep the enemy in T1/T2), thereby making FW truly a militia-wide effort if the faction as a whole is to benefit from the LP bonuses of T4/T5.

Reverberation Project [ECHO] currently evaccing IFJ-EL.

After losing their home systems IHUB while defending an FE Fortizar timer and a dramatic standoff between 18 docked pilots and 15 DogFort AF's joined by a salty ex ECHO line member over the final 6WW timer, the decision to evacuate capitals from the IFJ Fortizar has begun.

Repercussus are jumping out assets and dropping alliance to join Forsaken Empire in Y-ZXIO as we speak. Rumor has it ECHO as an entity has completely met its end after spending 40b on buying the pocket from Worthless Krabs only to lose it 3 weeks later.

Talon Shryne has not been seen in a month while his empire burns around him.

3am - ECHO currently SDing all their sov in the TVN pocket.

Updated EVE Market Order Broker and Relist Fees Infographic (brought to you by USIA)

    Posted: 19 Mar 2020 11:15 AM PDT

    Good EVEning!

Several years ago someone created an infographic to depict the relationship between Corp/Faction Standings and Broker Fees. This infographic has become badly out of date by at least two massive economics revamp patches, so as Co-Head of the United Standings Improvement Agency [USIA], I've decided to put together an updated infographic that incorporates all the recent changes and also makes a few improvements over the original graphic.

    https://preview.redd.it/nzbedrwm3on41.png?width=646&format=png&auto=webp&s=7f0ff857385931576ef182c0413fe12b63888c70

Major changes from the original graphic:

    • Graph updated for new broker fee % formula
    • Broker Fees are expressed in terms of broker fee reduction (which is skill-independent) instead of as an actual value (which depends on your Broker Relations skill)
    • Broker Fees are depicted as a smooth color gradient instead of discrete colors
    • Relist fees have since been introduced and are now explained in the infographic
    • The permalink URL for the latest version of the infographic is indicated at the top. Should improvements ever be made to this infographic, or should CCP ever release additional economics revamp patches in the future, this infographic will be updated and you can find the latest version there.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve the infographic, kindly respond to this thread, send me an EVEmail (Archer en Tilavine), PM me on Discord (Archer en Tilavine#8734), or let me know on the USIA Discord server. If anyone would like to have their standings increased to lower broker fees, or would like some (free!) advice on raising standings themselves or minimizing the impact on relist fees (we know "the secret"), join the USIA Discord server and let's have a chat. (USIA was formed from the merger of The Standings Improvement Agency [TSCA] headed by Imiarr Timshae and the Lotek Standings Improvement Service [LCSIS] headed by Archer en Tilavine. We've been in operation for more than 10 years, and have even been spotlighted by ISD/CCP.)

Want to join a corp (Returning Player)

    Posted: 19 Mar 2020 11:42 PM PDT

    Hey yall,

I'm a returning player to EVE (played for a bit a few years ago). I have decent knowledge of this game and decided to make a fresh toon. I'm hoping to find a good corp that's close to Jita and if possible has some nullsec territory. I am currently immersed into mining as this fresh toon just got its Retriever yesterday but I am more than willing to do other things to support my corp!

So I was curious, why does the Amarr reppers outperform the Gallente reppers when its the Gallente who are the active tankers.

Also the Minmatar scrams and disruptors also is better than the Gallente ones even though that's supposed to be the Gallente speciality.

The CFC Bailout Package - Helping Adversaries

    Posted: 19 Mar 2020 04:38 PM PDT

    Greetings, capsuleers and redditors!

As most of you know, the CFC and the forces of FECHO have been going at it since July of last year over...well, nothing in particular. Anyways, while Tribute and Vale have been a haven of small fleet content, major powers have removed a botting haven in the far north and replaced it with...a botting haven. However, these certain bots tend to enjoy malfunctioning and sometimes shooting players instead of the complicated EVE NPC AI and have decided to seek out content in the free regions of Tribute and Vale. The opening shots have been fired and the target was a Forsaken Empire Fortizar in the 0R-F2F system.

While the CFC enjoys taking losses from FECHO forces by killing their athanors, this we could not allow. No robot is allowed to go south of Venal, and therefore we had to do something about it! Now the main timer was in east coast USTZ; therefore, the CFC decided to send junior partners B0SS (Brotherhood of Spacers) and FAM (Federated Alliance of Mafias) to fight against the robot horde.

Bolstered by these numbers, CFC & FECHO were able to achieve tactical and strategic victory by both holding the field and saving the Fortizar. The final battle report can be found here:

Good fight, Frat & NC. Please come again!

Returning player after 5 years with 1 bil to invest!

    Posted: 19 Mar 2020 02:47 PM PDT

    Hey there,

I've reinstalled Eve after almost 5 years and I can barely remember how to undock my ship!

I have a character with around 16 million skill points distributed mostly into combat (Caldari ships and missiles) and exploration. I remember that I could fly the Tengu and the Rattlesnake. I have 1 billion isk in my wallet. My goal is to make enough isk so that I can afford to pay for my monthly subscription with plex. What would be the ideal way to go about doing it nowadays, considering that I play solo and that I'm not really into pvp?

Corporation "Jack of All Trades" Upwell Strategies?

    Posted: 19 Mar 2020 09:38 PM PDT

Hello! I do apologize if this is a beaten topic but I've been doing some research and can't find all the information or recommendations that I'm looking for, so I'm hoping that someone who has experience with Upwells can give me an idea or two.

My goal is to create a market station with refining and industry abilities in a highsec area (I'm sure I'm not the first) and I've been reading the dev blogs from when they announced the ECs and Refineries.

My question is, (I guess it's more so confirming my suspicion at this point) would I be better off in investing in Citadel for my corp's base of operations, a market, reprocessing and industry rather than having an individual EC and refinery? Additionally, I'm not to interested in moon refining (at this time).

I know for the short term, it's likely a YES because it's much cheaper to buy one citadel over an EC and refinery but do those bonuses make enough of a difference to justify deploying and managing multiple Upwells?

I'm also aware of the other factors of profitability that go into it (mostly), so I'm just more so wondering about the actual implementation.

Thanks in advanced, I appreciate it!
