Greetings capsuleers! Cactusjack here with another blog post about our favorite internet spaceship videogame.

So recently y'all may have heard about V0LTA's victory over Federation of Respect Honor Passion Alliance and taking C0NE sov in Fade and Deklein. Part of that is true - V0LTA did in fact beat the pvp powerhouse that was RHP, and they do own sov in Fade and Deklein, as well as the R64 moons. However, you might be interested to know that there's a lack of killmails for athanors on those R64 moons and a lack of major toasting timers in Fade and Deklein. Reason being is that Darius sold the moons and sov to V0LTA at a discount because the coniferous forest spread itself too thin. A decision was made to consolidate back into Pure Blind and stay there because a) fuck managing a lot of renters, b) fuck managing a lot of sov, and c) fuck having a lot of blues because of reasons a and b.

So anyways, we come to this past week. In a surprising twist of fate, epic backstabber and elite cap FC Count Scary decides to reinforce all R64 and R32 moons belonging to V0LTA since they are timed in USTZ. Surprisingly, they decide to not show and the first of many athanors that they paid for has died

tldr - volta buys sov and structures from C0NE, hurfblurfs on the reddits, instills renters, and begins losing said sov and structures to C0NE because reasons

BR: TRI/VOLTA vs WANGS/EVICTUS in Cloud Ring

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 01:24 PM PDT

    https://br.evetools.org/br/5f70dd018162ae001f86ba14

    BR:
WANGS/gallente lowsec groups formed a typhoon fleet supported by an Evictus Cerberus/Jackdaw fleet to attack a TRI athanor in Cloud Ring. WANGS and TRI have been battling each other for the past couple weeks, and this athanor was the first of a series of defensive timers coming out for TRI this evening, ensuring a large turnout from both sides. After seeing that we were largely outnumbered, TRI invited VOLTA on our side to even the numbers.

TRI started the fight warping armor machs/FAX to the athanor grid, which WANG countered by warping to 0 and attempting to neut out the TRI FAX while shooting machs. EVICTUS cerbs landed at range to add dps on TRI as the VOLTA nightmares joined the brawl. TRI disrupted the WANGS guardian wing with ECM from the armor machs while burning off, killing phoons who couldnt catch reps from the logi.

The first TRI fax was capping out so VOLTA/TRI belatedly cleared the field of bhaalgorns to reduce neut pressure, losing a few machs to the sheer DPS from the phoons. By this time the WANGS phoon fleet was losing DPS ships rapidly enough that reps stabilized on the TRI mach fleet, as TRI and VOLTA mopped up the battlefield to finish the brawl.

Result: TRI athanor pushed into final timer, but TRI/VOLTA held the field and won the fight.

    GF to everyone!

After a seven year break, I was reminded why I love this game.

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 09:52 AM PDT

7 years ago I decided to take a break from Eve and just...never came back. At the time I felt trapped in slowly dying pirate corp with a bunch of really good guys who just weren't logging on that much anymore. I didn't want to bail on the corp, but as it became harder, and harder to put together a gang or a gate camp, the game just lost its fun.

A couple days ago I decided to give it another shot, so I logged in and found my old CEO who is in a new corp and started ferrying all of the odds and sods that were scattered across space in different stations to move it to the new corps location. I was using my old cloaky hauler alt to move stuff out of a very, very active part of low sec and my stress level was at a 10.

I started by setting up safe warp locations off the station I was using and then set up spots I could use to spy on the gate from range. Small gangs were moving through the system. There were around 40 people in local, lots of them with flashy skulls by their name, and almost every time I undocked an interceptor would warp to me to check me out. Eventually, I was able to unlock and warp to a safe point where I could realign and warp to my gate spy location, and then make the jump with my breath held to the next system where, if there wasn't a pretty good gate camp I would be safe. The gate was clear and I was able to move the first load of stuff out of the system without getting popped.

As I was jumping back through hi-sec basking in that feeling of succes...and relief, I was reminded of how fun and immersive this game can be. I am having to relearn everything and I'm a noob all over again, but I am excited to be back. Hopefully, this new corp will be a good fit, but if it's not Im determined to keep moving until I find something right for me. This game is too good to let go of. Anyway - fly dangerous! o7

4 t1 cruisers vs the angry hordes of Basgerin - elite and very relevant AAR

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 01:51 PM PDT

Our elite discord intelligence service spotted a gatecamp up in Basgerin having killed an innocent myrmidon. We dispatched our most hardened and also the only 2 active pilots, + alts in the elite comp of 1 sfi, 2 naugs and one mega elite exequror. We speeded over to basgerin in the hopes of quickly killing the evil mans in order to quit eve and do something enjoyable instead.

When we arrived in basgerin we instead saw 1 bhaalgorn, 1 drake, 1 gnosis and 1 harbinger. Easy peasy, so we killed them with our beast comp. We sat around on the gate to loot and smug after killing the evil guys when some asshole thorax began looting our wrecks!!! we shot the mans until he escaped into hisec with our loot(angery). So we stuck around a little more, only to be greeted by 4 brutix, 1 stratios, 1 bhaalgorn, a few thorax, 3/4 tornados at 100km and a widow zooming around at 50km?????. The dudes came in groups so we decided to kill them cause why not. The enemies also at one time brought in 2 thanatos where we bounced off and frantically tried to resub our capital pilots and bring cyno in time. However they were gone when we bounced back a few minutes later, having paid 4 subscriptions for nothing >:((((

We mitigated a lot of damage by orbiting targets at 500m with abs on, sensor damping with the sfi, and using ecm drones on the naugs. The exequror managed to stay alive for along time by bouncing to an astrahus 1000km off the gate and coming back often. The elite and brave cruiser squad managed to stay alive until it died(when enemies brought many dudes and webs.) BR link.

All bad jokes aside, just a small fun battle where both sides had fun. Also showing that you dont need to have some mega fancy comp to get nice fights :)

African atomic is recruiting weekend warriors who are down for risky fights and dont mind dying. Heres another fun fight we recently had, with 4 rr vedmaks, 1 ashimmu and 1 rodiva. Link

    My first death

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 04:07 AM PDT

I earned 100 mil for high-sec mining. When I reached 4M skill points I thought 'Maybe I should do something more fun & profitable, since mining is as boring as hell'

So I bought a heron, fitted the heron, and flew it off to the nearest null.

I earned a decent 30m ISK there in just a few hours. That made my day. So I came back today.

I had another 20m ISK in my cargohold, My ship was worth 7m. I was hacking VERY peacefully, and the minigame was so fun I forgot D-scanning.

Then suddenly a Gila just appeared from nowhere and dealt 1000 damage to my cute heron in two seconds.

I was hacking, I was attacking the core, and when the hacking tab disappeared I thought 'I completed it! now I should open the site', But something was wrong. There was no ship in my screen. And one sec later I realized and warped to the nearest gate as fast as possible. If I was a bit late my capsule would have gone too.

    I lost about 30m in a second.

Right now I`m back in Clellinon, finally having tasted a bit of true EVE.

Anyone want to teach a total noob how to PvP? I have an account that I've been letting gain skills for a long time now but I never learned how to play the game all that well.

DM me and ill send you my stats. Plus I got lucky and made a friend who gave me close to half a Bil so I have plenty of money too. Im bad at video games in general but I still enjoy playing so if anyone is interested, I would love to learn to play EVE more than missions.

CCPLS - can we take a page from the rts world(ruse?) and stack brackets?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 11:34 AM PDT

in RTS games we often see unit icon's being stacked with a unique but similar icon to that of a single unit to show the icon is representing 10 units or more, this would help out a lot for huge fleet fights by cleaning up and reducing the number of brackets without removing them fully, players would still be able to at a glance get a good feel for where everyone is on grid but it would use less icons and run better fps.

Which sub 100 mil ships + fits have fastest align, warp times nowadays ?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 08:25 PM PDT

    Hi all

Been out a bit and there have been a lot of changes to ships and modules that I missed.

    So I have a question.

In the sub 100 mil category, including ship and fit, which ones have fastest align + warp acceleration ? What are the top 5 or top 10 ?

Krirald entered first liminality - will it become the last final liminality or a new hi sec system?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 10:44 PM PDT

Krirald just entered first liminality, and it is the 27th system the trigs take. And some rumors go around that say that invasions end as soon as trigs take 27 systems.

Another interesting aspect of that system is the security status: It dropped only to -0.1. And its base security is 0.2. Low sec systems have a strange effect that the security status increases by something between 0.3 and 1.0 when they enter final liminality. This happened with all low sec systems that were taken by trigs. That would mean, that the security status in final liminality should be something between 0.2 and 0.9(!!!). Yes, it might becomes hi sec. But this is just a theory I made after observing other low sec systems. You can proof me wrong by pushing it to final lim. All other low sec had a derivered security between -0.7 and -1.0 during first and 2nd liminality.

Another fact: Its the 2nd Minmatar System that trigs take

    Ivy League / Darwinism. Brawl

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 02:14 PM PDT

Darwinism. formed up in our ancestral Khanid home, eventually gathering 18 pilots in a T1 cruiser and small kitchen sink comp.

We jumped through a nullsec wormhole and made our way to the Syndicate and Placid regions. Nothing for 15 or so jumps until we reached the PC9-AY system inhabited by Ivy League. Ivy League, having scouted us several systems ahead avoided our initial tacklers. They quickly gathered around 15 or so active pilots, forming a cruiser/BC/BS gang with 4 logi to defend their space. A brawl ensued as both groups clashed at point blank range. Although the battle was won by Darwinism., Ivy League destroyed Sul Glass in a Zealot, evening out the isk totals. We then claimed Ostingele for King Khanid II as we camped the Stacmon gate forever until heading home.

Props to Ivy League, they are one of the few groups that will fight without overwhelming numbers. Week after week goes by as I run roams from 5-20 pilots and no one will engage Darwinism. unless they have multiple caps to drop. I have composed a recent short personal list of groups that are risk averse and those that will pvp without a 100% chance of victory.

Honorable PVP groups that will fight back:

    Ivy League

    Brave Collective

    Horde

Risk averse, will not engage with the risk of losing a ship:

    Dock Workers.

    White Sky

    Tundragon

    Ushrakhan

    No Forks Given

    Seven Sins

Send complaints and trolls to Ashmarir, home of Khanid and true piracy. Come fight, and Darwinism. will fight. CCP is not promoting risk aversion, players are. Darwinism. is recruiting (ask crystal).

Prepare your large gun blueprints - Redistribution second order effects

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 04:33 AM PDT

During the meta show today, Kenneth Fields said that "building T1 large guns" as a form of mineral compression may return after the update. However, after a bit of analysis I think building T1 large guns will be a necessity again due to a combination of 2 factors.

1.The update drastically changes the values of certain compressed ore stockpiles that exist today.

While everyone ran out to buy Crokite and Ochre for their future Noxcium refines, less attention was paid to which ores got completely hosed.

Ore Refine Values per million m3 uncompressed

Certain ores will be completely worthless after the patch due to removal of trit. If you hold stocks of Arkonor, Bistot, Jaspet, or Pyroxeres, you need to refine them before the patch. Because these ores lose up to 80% of their value. Conversely, Ochre barons will see the worth of their holdings double because CCP willed it.

2.Once refined, minerals are still a bitch to move.

The decrease in ore refine values post patch means people will be pressured into refining their ore pre-patch. However, after that you are left with a mass of bulky minerals instead of portable compressed ores. You better hope that you can use up all your minerals in the place that you refined them, because you are not moving those minerals unless you are in highsec. Building and then refining T1 large guns is an extremely inefficient process, but the people who refined their stuff prior to patch don't really have a choice if they ever want to move their minerals. Losing 40% of your minerals because of refining loss sucks, but it's better than losing 80% because you didn't refine your compressed minerals pre-patch.

Note that after the patch, Arkonor and Bistot (the main ores available in nullsec) are worth approximately 20 million and 35 million isk/hour respectively in a max rorqual boost skiff with correct mining crystal. This is an activity CCP expects players to do in nullsec.
