Is it possible to get back into EVE in late 2020 after years of absence?

Pretty much the title, is it possible to get back into EVE in late 2020? I've always thought it's all about discovering the right player corporation and finding your place in the game, yet taking the first step once again seems so indimidating. Knowing which corporation to join and which not to join. Getting hang of the game's social development after years of absence.

I've been into a single player corporation once before during my EVE career and it was the best of times, we had weekly mining operations and mission runs and hanging out with fellow corporation members. This lasted for couple of years in the early 2010's until the corporation grew too large and got stuck in constant High Sec warfare, there were other issues probably too but that was the reason why the corp eventually died, pretty much. It was a High Sec PvE Corp.

I have a very old character in EVE (started in 2006 esque) with some 70 million Skill Points (probably much more) and several other alt characters. If only I had kept them under training all these years, I've dabbled into EVE every now and then but never found another player corp I could join in.

I just keep having this feeling every so often that EVE has that untapped potential if you just find your place in it. From the outside it looks like it's still very player and community driven game unlike some other MMO's on the market.

Perhaps the issue for me has always been being too stuck on looking strictly at High Sec corps. I applied to a Null Sec corporation once but never really joined them as I was kind of afraid the necessary gameplay requirements it brings like D-Scanning and knowing who is a potential enemy. Possible loss of ships and especially implants didn't really help taking the "plunge", so to speak. Even though the corp probably had an extensive ship replacement program I was afraid of causing losses too often.

Yet for years I've heard this saying in EVE; Join a player corporation! Go Low sec/Null/WH! (anything but Empire). But how does one find such a corporation out of nowhere after not having played the game for years?

I could write more about the character in here but there's also the fear of revealing too much information, tbh. Additionally I'm not just randomly "hating on the game" or pointing out of it's possible flaws but just curiosity considering returning back to it after so many MMO games have only let me down.

What I don't want to do is just logging in for couple of days and doing couple of level 4 missions on my battleship and thinking; Is this it?

EVE has it's own niche but it also feels like it has that untapped potential, and if you have several characters, returning to play just in a High Sec NPC corp feels like a waste. (Yet, not playing it feels like a waste, more or less. Missing out the opportunity to play this unique kind of a game).
