[PSA] EVE-Gatecheck has finally been updated Posted: 20 Nov 2020 11:13 PM PST Hey space bros, apologies for the delay in getting it updated. EVE-Gatecheck has now been updated to include Pochven and sec status changes, and it is back to securing your route through Excelsheets in Space! For those not aware, EVE-Gatecheck is a free-to-use tool (with premium features available for 25m ISK/mo) that lets you check your route for potential hazards, mainly focused around spotting gatecamps, warning you of e.g. bubbles or smartbombs being used. There is also a function that lets you see war target activity. Examples (old pictures without updated region/security status data): http://i.imgur.com/ToiTRWP.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/KOD3PUC.jpg Fly safe! [link] [comments] |

PSA to eve nerds look after yourselves. how the rest of my year changed in seconds Posted: 20 Nov 2020 01:44 PM PST bit of a real life story away 2 weeks ago i was doing my usual Friday night sports helps with physical and mental health was due to change alliances the next day had a super and caps to to move out of the D-W. in under 10 seconds my life for the next few months changed im not sure exactly how it happened but i had a tumble and couldn't get back up from the pain. after being taken off to hospital in an ambulance and drugged up on painkillers i was taken in for xrays that confirmed it was spiral fracture of the fibula and i broke a chunk of bone off my tibia as a result i would be pretty much confined to my bed for much of the next 3 months ( more time for eve ?). 12 days after after my accident i would go in for surgery to have a plate and pins put in . Ive made it to 4 days post opp have another operation in 3 months but im on the way there dont forget to look after yourselves we all love this spaceships game but at the end of the day remember there's a person on the other side of the screen look out for each other https://imgur.com/a/XwByw1m for anyone who wants to see the xrays [link] [comments] |

Posted: 20 Nov 2020 12:49 PM PST I play eve because it's mentaly stimulating. You can always decide to learn something new, something that can give you satisfaction after hours and hours of trying to figure out how to customise your overview, then find out presets transfer to your d scan, and then find out all that shit you spent hours figuring out actually made you really good at combat scanning. Eve is truly something else. the real reason I stay playing Eve though is because the people. covid and other life hardships that might otherwise cut people off from a social network actually made eve a real place I met real people I like to spend time with. Then there's this subreddit. The icing on the cake. All the best parts of eve live here, but there's one thing this subreddit has that in game eve will never have. MEMES GIVE ME SOME OF DEM EVE MEMES!!!!!! [link] [comments] |

Something to Consider for the Eve Partnership Program Posted: 20 Nov 2020 02:22 PM PST
The partnership program seems pretty cool for youtubers/streamers/etc at a glance, but on a closer look, it's like they pulled their key performance indicators out of thin air. Streaming:
For starters, Sully Gnome shows the viewer ratio for Eve to be at 23.6 over the last 90 days. That's a pretty saturated market. It's also worth mentioning that due to Eve's single server, there's an extremely limited timezone to make any progress in as a broadcaster, and that space is pretty much dominated by either Bjorn, Eve_NT, or the official CCP channel. Furthermore, the lack of discoverability on Twitch specifically means that it's a tough platform to succeed at in any meaningful way. And being that Twitch holds the lion's share of livestream content, I'd imagine that that's where most people are going to go. Videos:
So, youtube gaming is a slightly better option than live streaming, because at least with videos you're not directly competing with other broadcasters for an extremely limited timeslot. But you're still operating in a relatively low-demand market, especially considering the sheer amount of video being uploaded to Youtube at any given moment. Furthermore, if we're just going off of numbers, what's the inherent value of making in-depth guides vs making seven second meme videos? I'm not trying to call anyone out, but there needs to be some consideration for the quality of content being produced. Rooks and Kings videos are probably some of the most iconic fan-created content in Eve, and even at their height, they were uploading videos once every 6 months or so. Is there any consideration given to that over someone just cranking out random stream highlights on their YouTube every few days? Blogs:
I don't have too much to add here, given my general lack of experience with running a blog, but the posts on EveOnion in October generated a total of 1914 views. A quick look at evebloggers will show you that there aren't that many active Eve blogs left. Including blogs feels like a relic; the KPIs here demonstrate a lack of understanding about how modern blogging works. Podcasts:
Podcast metrics are archaic, and short of expecting podcasters to supply the metrics themselves, it's hard to demonstrate monthly listenership due to how RSS hits work I don't want to speak too much on developer tools, because I'm not an app developer. I'm sure there are others who can speak better to this. What's not mentioned: In all this, there's no real mention of social media presence. How many people subscribe to a blog nowadays, when they can get updates from a twitter account that covers more or less the same information? One thing that YouTube, Twitch, blogs, and podcasts all have in common is they rely heavily on shareability and discoverability to take off. To that end, I'm not sure what CCP were thinking of when they set their KPIs for the partnership applications. It seems entirely arbitrary. Maybe I'm missing something? PS I made a dumb video version of this rant that you can check out here. Edit: formatting Edit 2: walking back the tl;dr joke. [link] [comments] |

How many of you salvage after your missions and how do you do it? Posted: 20 Nov 2020 05:39 PM PST Do you drop MTU's off in each rooM and come back with a salvager fit or do you carry drones on your mission ship? What is best/fastest most efficient way to do this with only 1 account? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
CCP please remove empty asteroid belts from Sov Null sec systems. Posted: 20 Nov 2020 01:03 PM PST Anyone else got an Industry home system with a high Index and every asteroid belt apart from anomalies are empty? If a belt is empty I think it should just be removed from the UI like when you clear anomalies. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 20 Nov 2020 05:18 PM PST I used to play eve a few years ago, i left the game for personal reasons and now seing that it havenew content i decided to return. The problem starts here, i used to live in wirashoda, it was a high sec system not too far from jita, and acordingly i have all my assets there , but now when i returned i realised that wirashoda now is in the middle of nowhere and all my mining stuff is virtually lost. Is there any way in wich i can safely safe my stuff (one who not involve doing a ton of highly risky trips?) Or should I consider all of that lost ? [link] [comments] |
