Bring back colored UI menu’s and The JukeBox

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 09:58 PM PST

I feel like new players get overwhelmed with the UI immediately upon starting the game.

Why do all the buttons look so similar, we had buttons that actually looked like the function they served. Can we put color back to these items and ccplease give me the old school Jukebox back!

    New(ish) player thoughts on redistribution

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 01:37 PM PST

Started playing about 4 months ago, before the redistribution update. I initially started playing because I wanted to build ships, then go shoot other people with them and EVE seemed like a good place to do that.

After about a week of playtime I realized it would be a long time before I could be even semi-decent at both building and piloting ships, so I made a second account (also omega) to help achieve that goal. Was having fun, made a few hulls, tried FW, ganking, pirating, etc. Lost them all rather quickly (I've still yet to get my first killmail lol) but hey, that's why I built them and eventually my skills will get me there right?

Fast forward a few months to the redistribution update and now it feels as if CCP has shoehorned me in to playing the market in order to be able to recombine stuff that I didn't mine/salvage/loot into something to fly or sell. Sure, I can just go buy a ship and modules with isk made from ratting or mission running, but that's no fun and the only motivation to avoid losing it is to avoid having to go do more missions or ratting. I want to care about my ship because it took time and effort to build, not because it costs isk. In a way, it cheapens the value, I just don't care about the ship any more except as an inconvenience to lose.

I didn't sign up because I wanted to play the market or accumulate isk, I wanted to build shit and pick fights with it. Now I can't build even the most basic stuff on my own because I can't access most of the materials. I can still make some modules/rigs from mission/ratting loot, but no ships to put it in. Owning a ship isn't an achievement any more, it's just an equation: I spent 3 hours ratting so now I have a Vexor. How exciting. I'm sure the big nullsec guys can just organize mining fleets into low/hi sec to collect what they need but that's not really an option for anyone else (and before you ask, no, I'm not interested in being cannon fodder /mining monkey for some null bloc).

I don't want to mine for stuff I'm not going to use just so I can sell the excess, I want to produce things that I can fly. So let me do that! I was starting to build my BPO collection but now there's not really a point because I'm not gonna buy the materials when I could just buy the ship or module instead.

Don't really want to buy the ship either at this point, because now I don't give a shit what happens to it.

Dunno if anyone else feels this way but I'm disappointed. Joined a HS pvp corporation, we'll see if it's fun but I'm a lot less interested in the game than I was a month ago. Probably dropping my alt sub at any rate, there's no reason for it now.

EDIT: just spitballing but maybe throwing like 1 rock worth of rarer minerals in cosmic signatures or something similar might help? Shouldn't be enough to be a viable source of income, but just enough that with some extra effort, producing your own sub-capital stuff wouldn't leave you completely reliant on the market or trekking between hs/ls/null all the time

Abandoning drones to switch to sentries faster?

    Posted: 20 Nov 2020 12:58 AM PST

Hi noob relatively noob player here, would it be a viable idea of instead waiting for drones going back to drone hold, I just abandon them at space then switch to sentries? Then if I'm done, I will just reconnect to those drones at space?

EVE Online printed collector stuff. EON magazines, maps, posters etc.

o7, I came into possession of a load of EVE Online treasure and was wondering if anyone would be interested in it?

I have every EON Magazine from 1 to 29, playing cards, postcards, maps, posters, and a full game map book from EVE-maps.com. All in pretty near original condition and all wrapped neatly.

I don't really play anymore so I'm wondering if this is worth anything to anyone out there?

A better analysis of WWB2 from a still mediocre analyst

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 01:30 PM PST

    Hello r/Eve, it's me again!

Yesterday I posted a somewhat skewed analysis of Horde and Test participation in WWB2 so far. I received many comments, some pretty inflammatory, but a lot of very good constructive criticism too. You were right to point out that my choice of battles wasn't very meaningful, my title was pretentious, and some flaws in the analysis. I also had wrong data on the battle for SPNZ. Today I tried to improve on that.

The result is a much bigger analysis. I took 11 battles into consideration, including all delve keepstars, ENHO, and sov warfare from this past month. As there are many more plots, I can't show it all on reddit, so here is an Imgur link. Still arbitrary choice, but it's hard to get anything else sadly. I can give the BR I used if you want to. After the intro and the method, there are pie charts to show the composition for each coalition, for each battle. After the pies you can find player participation for each alliance (you can read them, for example, as "50% of Init members were present to defend the Y-2ANO keepstar"). Finally, some analysis of Horde vs Tapi vs Goons, and the participation evolution (also divided between KS fights and sov warfare).

This time, I'll let you draw your conclusions yourself. "Grr goon" VS "Where is test", I'll leave it to you. I hope to have better data in the future, and until then, constructive criticism is always heavily welcomed.

EDIT: sorry if some battles show in the wrong order for the pie charts, I have issues with Imgur. I tried to rearrange them but it seems to be in vain. You should still be able to figure it out though.

    Azbel War Dec

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 07:23 PM PST

I have to make this quick, I don't have much time due to RL time commitments.

I'm trying to decide what to do about an Azbel I have in High Sec. I have just been war decc'ed by yet another High Sec Structure War Dec Alliance. Of course it comes at a bad time for me in real life. I can hire the mercenaries to try and defend it, but at this point right now - I think I would rather take all my fittings and inventory out and let them blow it to sh*t. I can eat the 3.5bil I paid for it in Amarr. It's got more isk invested in the stupid new CORE I had to buy for it as well as all the combat and industry modules. It wasn't rigged. So I would just be eating the 3.5b.

What would you do if you were me? Does this sound like a solid plan? My corp mates have all been ordered to remove their things and head for NPC Stations and are doing so before the WarDec becomes active. I don't think it's worth fighting over tbh.

    Tengu C3 ratting.

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 03:35 PM PST

    Hello fellow capsuleers.

I am currently ratting (or more like trying to) in C2 with Drake NI fitted with HAMs. It does around 621 dps with drones included. It gets stuff killed, but my tank is crappy.

So i thought I might bring Tengu instead and do C3 sites, as I have access to C3 statics and only occasionally get access to C2s.

Problem is, i don't know how to fit it against sleepers. I can make a barely capstable active fit with HAMs doing 800dps, but i know that C3s involve lots of neuts, and i think i will be dried out quickly.

If someone have a not too blingy fit for C3s, I'd be grateful.

Is there somewhere I can find a bubble map of the systems in game?

    Posted: 20 Nov 2020 02:08 AM PST

Looking for something that gives the bubble distances of the systems in game, does this already exist? If it does are wormhole systems included and shown where they are relative to the other systems?
