On a more personal note, internet spaceships has been such a disproportionately large proportion of my life this past 6 months in lockdown that not having to deal with it for X days is a welcome return to normality. [link] [comments] |

An Analysis of the Increase in Wormholer Posting and Wormhole Reddit PvP Posted: 20 Dec 2020 09:31 AM PST tl;dr we're shit and we're posting also wormholes are killI know some of you might read this post and decide it is 'nothing more than an autistic sperg shitposting on r/eve because he can't be bothered to log in and pvp', but I am posting this because I am genuinely concerned about the health of the subreddit and a lot of the problems and the symptoms I see in wormhole posting are mirrored in other parts of the game such as Wormhole Space. I know this is a shit post, but I will try to be as useless as possible and base my commentary on what I have personally observed other people posting and commenting.
So What Has Been Happening on r/eve?There has been a significant and sustained increase in commentary on wormholes over the last 11 months. The increase in activity has taken three forms:
To give it some context and to put some stoutness into my observations I decided to look at some stats on r/eve to confirm my biases. As an example, I searched r/eve for posts that contain the word "wormhole", over the last several months. This graph dramatically illustrates the situation on r/eve and mirrors my own experience. Since July the number of posts containing "wormhole" has risen sharply and is still trending upward. These numbers should be alarming to r/eve mods. So what is causing it, and what does it mean for the subreddit?1. BoredomPlayers are increasingly bored with the increasing work required to find fights in wormhole space. 2. General dissatisfaction with the lack of drama on the subredditPeople on this subreddit are far too nice, and are being influenced by the suave images presented by professional r/eve posters like u/chinguatles. 3. Armchair developersThere are many people who are hoping that CCP will see their post on r/eve and offer them a job. Looking at you, u/aliventi. What do Mods Need to do if They Really Care About the Quality of the Subreddit?Mods need to address the underlying problems causing the dramatic increase in wormhole posting with urgency before the entire subreddit is consumed. Many of these posters don't understand that there are other areas in Eve apart from Wormhole space, and the overall result if they don't address this right is a totally consumed subreddit. Please Mods, place a blanket ban on wormhole posting in this subreddit. r/eve is literally dying in front of your eyes. [link] [comments] |
V0LTA vs Siberian Squads, SNUFF, Banderlogs, and friends Posted: 20 Dec 2020 10:11 AM PST Quick and ez AAR: While we have been busy having hard and emotional fights with banderlogs and siberian squads we let banderlogs reinforce an athanor to hull timer a few days ago, giving us a 16:31 Sunday timer. We noticed recently that Banderlogs have been being FC'd by main Siberian Squads Hanzo Viper as they merge into each others fleets and Hanzo calls the shots. We also knew that Hanzo forced sib squads to put jump clones in 5ZXX, but instead they used a Wormhole today to organize themselves to attempt to not be seen. The Athanor timer came out and we saw Sibs had formed in with Banderlogs and were on the way and we were mid form ourselves. After about 10 minutes of the timer ticking down Banders and Sib squad finally cyno'd into system with a combined fleet https://dscan.info/v/dd1a0887b724 + a few more cerbs and they added a B-52 phoenix at range to the athanor to keep the timer paused. We had 46 nightmares ourselves + about 10 or so logi and 2 minokowas. We jumped in our fleet at 120 off of the cerbs and started killing them, immediately Hanzo had banders light their cyno and bridge in 5 more dreads...only they cyno'd too far from our 1 mino we brought with fleet, so the mino tanked fine and we just ignored their dreads and continued killing cerbs. Eventually Hanzo had the big brain idea to make his dreads exit siege, and a single nag warped off, and then warped back to our mino, only to get butt blasted by our nightmares https://zkillboard.com/kill/89393775/ and did not manage to pressure our mino enough to kill it sadly. We kept killing cerbs and hanzo refused to warp off despite bleeding cerbs in exchange for a few scimis and 1 or 2 nightmares. Eventually they extracted their dreads because the Athanor that had been shot the entire time by the B-52 phoenix finally died. We thought they'd likely just leave at this point, but Hanzo opted to stay and after a few minutes of losing more cerbs finally decided to re-warp the remaining 4 anti-cap dreads at 0 to our minokowas. Unfortunately for these dreads they primaried the minokowa who was not triaged, our other mino heated reps and we hazed dreads with nightmares again, we stabilized and lost a few nightmares in this time due to our 1 triaged fax keeping the other alive. We killed all 4 dreads and began killing cerbs again, we were about to kill the B-52 phoenix which was a bit further than the rest of the anti-cap dreads, but snuff opted to light their cyno finally and bring in 20 something carriers. At this point the fight was over, we had lost a few nightmares and logi and our FAX were dead for sure at this point, so we pulled off, killed a few sirens and warped off. Current market analysis - Skill injectors vs cerebral accelerators Posted: 20 Dec 2020 06:53 PM PST I am a new player in EVE, so I'm still trying to make sense of all the different concepts. Since this winter festival was dropping a lot of cerebral accelerators, I wanted to understand if they were worth keeping. I was a bit nervous, since I had been keeping any skin I could sell, to see if it'd rise in value in a year or two, but all the skins seemed to be hard to sell (very few purchases) and seemed to depreciate in value rather than rise. So, I did some calculations to see whether cerebral accelerators were worth the ISK and whether I should just use them myself. In conclusion from this, I made a ISK per SP comparison (using market prices) of the different products, so I thought I'd share: Large skill injector (655M) If player gets 500k SP: 1.310 ISK per SP If player gets 400k SP: 1.637 ISK per SP If player gets 300k SP: 2.183 ISK per SP If player gets 150k SP: 4.366 ISK per SP Cerebral accelerators (numbers are for Omega - double the ISK per SP for alphas) Biology V (100% duration to booster duration) is assumed - double the ISK numbers if you don't have it skilled. Basic cerebral accelerator (7,5M): 434 ISK per SP Potent ceberebral accelator (40M): 1.157 ISK per SP Extended cerebral accelerator (43M): 552 ISK per SP Expert cerebral accelerator (1050M): 1.012 ISK per SP Also, some cerebral accelerators are randomly overpriced (due to scarcity, I assume, but could also be CCP trying to push their "product" and putting estimated price too high), even though they are identical to their differently named counterpart, apart from expiry date. This is probably not an uncommon thing in EVE, but I assume it will be balanced out in the long run. Formulas used (from Skills and learning - EVE wiki):

What's 'Intelligence Network'? Posted: 21 Dec 2020 01:48 AM PST Instead of my standard 'Ban-wall-o-txt' since I'm in retirement (and staying there, no you can't have my stuff) I live vicariously through you're guys shit posting, a few EVE vets who come visit me when I go live and most importantly DOTLAN. So I saw this this morning and was like. Wtf?Just asking if anyone knows about it or who's making it? Have fun with your war all, also even those I fought bitterly for the 11 years I played, I wanted to wish you a happy holidays and if I ever get to meet any of you IRL. I'd love to raise a glass with you, thanks for, even after 5 years, making me check back and watch from afar wishing I had time to play again (I don't have time). Cheers [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Dec 2020 07:21 PM PST So, I thought I'd share my experience with the volatile ice field sites. Finding that that I didn't have the necessary skills the probe down the exploration sites, I decided to get skills for my character to be able to mine ice from the ore sites in high, to get the festival rewards. I was surprised that the rewards were actually worthwhile. For someone has just recently started being able to earn 30M ISK per hour from ratting (I'm sure I could earn more, but I haven't taken the time to find out how), this seemed like an incredibly low effort way of earning a bit more than I could do by ratting in the bad areas of null sec in my myrmidon. I read on The New Eden Post that the combat sites in low were harder in low sec, so just like I found belt ratting to be more profitable in low sec, I reckoned that the volatile ice fields in low sec might yield better results that null, and no doubt more than high. So, I found a quiet low sec system with an ice storm and mined ice there for one evening. As I was about to dock with the last of the crates I got, I got caught off guard by another miner who managed to gank me (since I was fitted purely to optimize the mining, hoping I wouldn't need to fight any miners or industrials entering the site, and the site had vanished from the anomaly overview). In desperation, I jettisoned my crates, hoping the ganker wouldn't notice, but alas it was not to be :) So, I lost half of what I had mined there. But I found out that the part I got away with was still worth 500M. That's a lot of ISK per hour for me (around 10-15M per crate, so around 60-90M per hour). I went somewhere else, hoping others wouldn't do the same. However, it turns out people had found out how profitable this was, because roaming gangs of venture were out killing people, and my second turn at low sec ice mining was short-lived. So, now I've been trying out null sec festival ice mining (losing an endurance, my night sleep, as well as my nerves in the process), and it seems so far that null sec is actually slightly less profitable than low sec (around 5-7M per crate so far, whereas high sec seemed like 2,5M per crate). The lucrative Peculiar Icebound Salvage that you have a chance of getting seemed more common in low than in high as well - and I still haven't enountered them in null. Since I didn't see a lot of people sharing information ice mining on the festival sites, I thought I'd chip in. [link] [comments] |
So is it safe to record in Eve as a Newbie? Posted: 20 Dec 2020 11:08 PM PST So after the other day have so many wonderful people suggest I give Eve a shot and it's worth it in 2020. I decided I will do just that! My concern not knowing much about Eve is it overall safe to record? Not stream but record so might be a day or 2 out of date? I only ask because not sure if there is griefers, etc that can some how take advantage even slightly outdated info. Sounded like there are people who suicide for trolling and such. Either way I got a lot to learn I guess I should start reading up new player FAQ's and such hehe. I'm excited and I really should go to bed! [link] [comments] |

Ranking your group’s doctrines Posted: 20 Dec 2020 10:55 PM PST Hi everyone, was just curious about what everyone's favourite doctrines for your respective groups are. I try to pick ones that people have the most fun flying, so I guess this might help with that. Megathrons and rokhs are amazing for when we get to fly them, and jackdaw and harpy fights can be super exhilarating. I've seen some FCs do super well with interceptor fleets recently, so maybe I should get into those - I know not that many people like those fleets. Ferox fleets are largely out now, I think, because they'll just end up getting shat on by HACs eventually. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 21 Dec 2020 12:48 AM PST Hello So, I'm getting my 2 alts slowly but surely to the point where they will have Interplanetary Consolidation V and Command Center Upgrades V, allowing them + my main char to do 18 planet PI production. My plan is to produce P4 material, and hell, I spent quite some time figuring out the numbers. Thing is, I never did PI with alts before, and as such, got some questions before commiting and starting to build colonies on planets: 1) Can I run alts in separate game windows on single account? Or is it only possible with different accounts? 2) How much ISK can you make from producing P4 with 18 planets in wormhole? Approximately? 3) What would be a good way of moving P2-P3 production between my characters? Obviously I cannot make P4 with one char, so needed P2-P3 materials are going to be sources from my alts' colonies, but you can't just dump them into my main char's colony. What is best way to give PI items to my main/alt? Corp contracts? Cannot really think of anything else. 4) The production chain question - It seems to me that the most convenient way is to produce P2s at extraction planets, before being transported, or is it more feasible to move P1 around to P2->P3 factories? Also, can a single planet have enough factories to turn all P2 from 3 chars into 1 P4? Or do i need severall factory planets? Thank you in advance. [link] [comments] |
