Goons and PAPI re-engage over Faction Fort after long IHUB fight earlier in the day

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 07:46 PM PST

    https://br.evetools.org/br/60176df163b1ed001b2f3bd4

    AAR:

A Faction fort in TPAR that Asher has been basing a SIG out of(afaik), was in it's hull timer shortly after the iHub shenanigans in M2 of the day ended.

Vily and Horde called a Muniin fleet, and began to attempt to shoot the fort, but we're met with a Baltec/Bhaal fleet w/ some minor FAX support.

PAPI warped on top of the Baltec fleet and fort and began primarying Bhaals while the Goon fleet primaried and alphad the PAPI Claymores off field, they then swapped to Muniins once all claymores were dead.

Both fleets took heavy PDS damage from the Faction fort during the entire engagement, and it ended decisively towards PAPI once Super were cyno'd in above the fort, and the remains of the Baltec fleet were either killed or warped off, letting the Faction Fortizar be destroyed.

GF to all involved, can't wait to see you on field later.

There was a 2nd Faction fort a few systems south of TPAR, but I have no info on that

The little Vigil that could - an M2- story

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 02:02 AM PST

As Sunday night was approaching, I think everybody involved knew that a big fight will ensue. Destroying the M2- Infrastructure Hub reff-ed the night before last would mean offsetting Empire plans to cyno jam the system and prolonging a vivid hostage situation that much longer. It was up to the Alliance to bring the fight to the enemy.

Being new to Eve all I could contribute was my Vigil skills that would pair well with the Cerberus fleet I was in. So I hopped in my trusted Vigil named after the famed Soviet Era Radio Location Station (RLS) town Skrunda, equipped it with my lucky charm the "Salvager I", and approached the Titan that would bridge us in. As any capsuleer I was prepared to die within minutes. Especially since this particular ship had survived a "hell camped" M2- incursion before. Surviving two incursions was less than likely in a frigate amidst two or more Heavy Assault Cruiser fleets bashing it out.

When our time came, I was surprised to see that instead of M2-, we would be going to KEE-N6. We went and we sat waiting hoping for a node to spawn. Not that long after an INIT Eagle fleet jumped in the system as well. Numbers in local indicated the enemy forces had numerical superiority. But stubborn as a bull, no node would decloak in this system, while our brothers in arms kept fighting, dieing, reshipping and returning to the fight in M2-.

Eventually our Fleet Commander saw an opportunity and warped us to the M2- gate and ordered to "jump on contact". As traffic control adjusted our sights for time dilated battlefield it took a while before arriving in M2-. As my screen cleared, comms went silent. We were in M2-, in a bubble, at zero with two enemy Eagle fleets that were egressing out of the gate bubble.

"Nobody move a muscle", yelled the FC, "HOLD!". The timer on our cloaks ticked. A lone Hyena made a mistake and decloaked. Fleet chat managed to spare a few "F's" for the poor thing before it got pulverized. "Hold.....we have time", repeated the FC. So we waited, holding our breaths for 30 sec in 10% TiDi. The enemy fleet continued to prop itself out of the bubble and away from the gate. It seemed they had missed the many blinking lights on the gate indicating somebody had followed them through the gate.

At 21:36 local time, once the enemy had cleared the gate bubble the FC made a quick countdown from 5 as we all anchored up and dashed in the opposite direction. Targets got called and 2 Eagles died before the INIT commander realized what had happened. In what must have been panic, he warped his fleet away. Leaving two more Eagles behind to be slaughtered in the aftermath.

After this short engagement the fleet warped to the first node objective and killed an entosing Minokawa despite being under threat and fire from a Goonswarm fleet of mostly Eagles. "Surely, I will not survive this" I thought to myself, but target after target we carried on.

It is at the point where the enemy commander Daniel Westelius was targeted, that I noticed - my shields have failed. I quickly found a friendly fort as my destination and clicked warp, expecting to arrive there in my pod. As power from all conduits of my little ship had been directed to propel me out of the engagement, there is nothing else I could do, but watch.

Another hit...and then another...and here I am...0 shield, 0 armor, 5 hp (1%) hull. Surely, I will get there in my pod. But the gods had rolled the dice and I made it out. A lone Ares followed, which I evaded by moving from fort to fort until my aggression timer ran out. The Ares gave up, I repaired my ship and returned to the fleet.

In the ensuing skirmishes 38 more enemy ships would be laser targeted before the night was over. In progressive tempo the enemy disengaged as soon as they were engaged. It seemed they gave up faced with superior numbers.

The objective was won. The Vigil had survived yet another incursion in M2- and lives to fight another day. List of kills.

tl;dr; had a blast for 4,5 hours. In the middle of it all experienced a close call - survived with 1% hull health. GFs all around.

    Loving this game

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 11:08 PM PST

So I picked this game up thinking it was gunna be another boring space sim, but boy was I wrong. I've loved flying around completing the beginner contracts but all I have left are the advanced military contracts and I'm wondering where do I go next? I know people say to join a Corp but I get so intimidated by advertisements because I have bad experiences with joining big clans and being left out or ignored untill I reach a high rank. Does anyone have suggestions for this space miner loving geek?

TLDR: looking for next steps in the game like what Corp to join

as long as you're adding isk-based gambling to the game, can we get a less mindless version than raffles? Playing poker with isk would be a lot of fun during long fleet formups.

Just started playing and my chat windows are invisible half the time I log in.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 02:11 AM PST

I downloaded the game yesterday, started the tutorial, and I am slowly figuring things out. But today when I log in chat windows are invisble. They look like this, but sometimes they are completely invisible. The reason I know this, is that when I drag my cursor to move my perspective I accidentally touch the chat window. I have no Idea how to fix this or where to ask for help.

    Thanks in advance.

Been out of the loop since the Fountain War, looking for info on wormhole alliances

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 03:36 PM PST

    Hey guys,

I'm a long-retired vet (old TEST alliance pilot) that's had an EVE itch. I never experienced wormholes in EVE. I'm at a point in my life where I want to play EVE but am not sure if I can handle massive fleet actions (wife and kids). Was wondering what the state of wormholes are and if there are any large null alliances that do wormhole? (wish TEST did it but I don't think they do)
