Reminder that Shield Slaves were promised long ago and have yet to be delivered on while Mimesis implants were only recently announced and will be arriving in four days.

This has been and will always be corporate priorities and a deliberate refusal to allocate resources to fulfilling promises.

    Also, to quote CCP Convict:
"It's easy to dismiss this subreddit as some kind of bittervet circlejerk but the fact is that level of angst can only come from spurned love. "

This is the kind of thing that spurns us.

Short list of bots in the Cal/Gal warzone

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 03:39 PM PST

pilkin, sdobin, sdodin, fosruk1, siimk1, sliimk1, vtulkin, vgaikin, bilkin, Fet Ni, Kelin AL, Mini Cid

All these players are bots, They endlessly run missions, 10+ hours a day, every day, for the past few months. The owner has a reactive script that interacts (possibly why they avoid a ban). If you say their name in Local some of them say "o/". You can repeat this for every system, and they will continually and endlessly "o/" in response to their name.

If you use the term bot in local with their name, some will mail you with a Russian phrase asking if you are a fool. This is repeatable, and I have gotten the same bot to message me the same message multiple times in response to saying their name with the words bot in local. it's very clearly a script. Is there anywhere I could send this information aside from the report bot tool?

CCPlease, DO NOT nest Saved Locations in the right-click menu

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 12:57 PM PST

This is a TERRIBLE design choice. I'd almost debate giving up sharable bookmarks to keep this QoL feature...at the very least, make it togglable.

The whole point of the right-click menu is quick access to actions.

"This change has been done for consistency with the other menu options (Stargates, Stations etc), and to keep the menu clean and clear."

No, this doesn't make sense. Your own bookmarks are organized into folders for main system items - like "instadock", "mining", and "wormholes". You don't need a subfolder "Locations" for a subfolder "Instadock". This directly counteracts what you just said - it would be double nesting, not providing consistency with the rest of the system.

Example: "Subfolders are a one-level organization tool, they cannot be nested and do not have individual permission settings."

This is directly opposite to that statement.

Please fix this, for explorers, safespots, and miners this is just going to add time and confusion.

    From Invasion Chapter 2 E-mail:

Upgrades to Minmatar Ships & Weapons

Power to the Matari fleet! Good news for fans of the Stabber Fleet Issue Cruiser and Tempest Fleet Issue Battleship, they are getting extra damage bonuses to their rate of fire. Medium Autocannons are also getting an upgrade across the board.

The Typhoon and Bellicose will be enjoying explosion velocity improvements, and the Muninn will be taken down a notch after a long period of fleet domination.

Feature Suggestion: Mastery Filter in "Hulls & Fits"

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 10:31 AM PST

It would be really nice for those of us with multiple characters (and also, I would think, for new players) to be able to filter out ships by their Mastery level. As it is now, I have to open my skills window to check the weapons/ECM/etc I have good stats for, or my BS skill levels for pirate BSes, etc...

I'm sure there are probably other cases I'm not thinking of, but in the same way we can filter for having minimum skills required to use, having a mastery (with maybe right-click option to choose mastery level) filter would let me only see the hulls the character is well-equipped to fly.

EVE Online Marketing and the Streamer Experiment

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 09:48 AM PST

I would like to see some discussion about this.

I've been thinking lately why people are drawn into EVE and why do they stay afterwards, I might be mistaken, but I will present a few ideas anyway because this is my post and I do what I want:

People are introduced by EVE because of the meaning behind it. They see the big battles, the big stories, the cinematics, and they want to take part in it. They stay because -although the game is hard to master- if you have the patience and will to learn it (really hard these days) you end up giving meaning into your assets, your corp or alliance and social. We even see sub-cultures grow in the game.

As an introduction to the guy: Nick Polom began as the wingman of Sodapoppin, you may have heard of him. They both played WoW and formed a community in it: When they played they were surrounded by about 50 or 60 players all the time. Today, he was talking about how he doesn't really have anything to play at the moment and I asked myself what would happen if a guy like him joined EVE online and streamed it with about 3,000 viewers he had on stream (like 10% of Tranquility players right now). I believe streamers move people because they put meaning on what they do, it's not just gameplay, the gameplay has some short of metagame goal. I thought a guy like him, if interested, could boost numbers and break the statu quo if there's something like that, maybe act as an influencer and bring quite a lot of people that would play hard to support him, as some think Mittani has 300IQ, like the guy, and side with us because of it. But this is what happened instead.

    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/511733571?t=03h01m50s

Now I have some conclusions and questions for you about it:

    CONCLUSIONS

    • He seemed interested, but mostly because of the cinematic, not the actual gameplay. (maybe he wants to be kind with donators?)
    • The stream chat seemed to be reluctant, because of the old tropes of "spreadsheet simulator" and "watch actual gameplay LUL" (gameplay looks boring to 3rd parties)
    • The "Official Gameplay Trailer" (the second video he watches) seemed to have too much information, I like the game and that video overwhelmed me with information (If the video is supposed to promote the game, save the specifics and get people hyped?)
    • Eve looks pretty nice, and everybody likes how it looks

    QUESTIONS

    • What's your take on current EVE Online's Marketing? Investing in the game is one thing but it remains unknown to quite a lot of people and I think they would like it.
    • You'd be ok with EVE being promoted by relatively big streamers and paid by CCP? Do you think it's useless and I wasted my precious 3€?
    • Do you think EVE is actually a game fitted for streaming as WoW is/was? What changes would you make to make it fitting and more interesting, change the default camera so there's more cinematic action?
    • Would a big streamer make a difference in EVE? Could it be beneficial for the rest of the player base or damaging instead?
