Announcing r/echoes - a subreddit for Eve Echoes

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 05:03 PM PST

    The new subreddit is /r/echoes

Long story short I am the creator of /r/eveechoes. You can check for yourself on the sidebar of the subreddit. The subreddit was stolen from me just before the first test by a spammer who appears to be ignoring the subreddit. In light of this, I took ownership of /r/echoes.

Due to losing the first subreddit and having to go through a lengthy process to get /r/echoes (that the guy who yoinked evechoes did not have to go through!)- it's pretty bare bones for now.

Want to help out with the new subreddit? Please send the moderators a PM on that subreddit. We will import a simple theme to it and flairs over the next few days.

Sorry to launch this so haphazardly / not ready to go out the gate. I put a lot of work into the original subreddit and lost it all thanks to reddits oh-so-great claim system. Seeing as it's becoming a lot more popular now I really couldn't wait any longer.

In the mean time we will be redirecting most Eve Echoes topics / conversations over to that subreddit.

    Hypernet and degenerate Gamblers question...

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 02:55 PM PST

Hi my name is Mike and I have a Gambling addiction. [sits down]

Anyway I can opt out of Hypernet across all my accounts making it impossible for me to part take?

I blew close to 17k USD on plex whilst SOMER and IWISK was around.

I know and accept it is my problem and most likely many of you will be unaffected by it, but having no safe guards in place is just really bad for degenerate people like me...

CCPlease - Show me killmarks in ship info attributes tab.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 07:15 PM PST

Seems basic, give me a plain text number on the attributes tab when I click Show Info on my own ships. Docked ships, flying ships, all my ships.

In fact, let everyone see it. Show info on another pilot's ship - attributes tab lists killmarks.

    Thank you.

    Zirnitra Hunt

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 09:49 PM PST

The blueprints and skills for the zirnitra are in game, yes? I've been completely unable to find any evidence of a blueprint or skillbooks related to it existing. No losses involving any, no evidence of a drop online, what gives? If someone has dropped one of these, ya gotta lemme know mate. I've been on the hunt for a while now.

Broken 10/10 Market due to poorly thought out BM change, Market Prediction T2 Salvage Price Spike

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 06:29 PM PST

Anyone else have visibility on this?

With the new Bookmark System, 10/10 sales have ground to an atrociously slow crawl.

T2 Salvage Pricing is definitely going to see another uptick in value. Market Players take note?

CCP, anyone paying attention to a sector of the game being made nonviable overnight? This change (requested or not) has definitely been a kick in the nuts to 10/10 runners.

A guide to playing the Hypernet for profit (or how to make sure you win an AT ship next Tuesday)

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 09:55 AM PST

    Good evening ladies and gentlemen,

The Hypernet relay was announced last Wednesday, and it's already only eight days away. While there are some guides telling you the very basics, none of them really do a proper DD on how to make money using this service. Hopefully this guide will answer the questions you may still have, and allow you to make money from the new feature on launch day next week by showing you all the best methods to be a profitable hypernetter.

Assuming you've at least seen the feature and know some of the basics, here's the important part you really need to know:

The raffles use two forms of tax that sum up to a pretty hefty markup on your initial price. The first is a 5% sales tax that is only applied if all tickets are sold and the raffle is completed. The second is done with hypercores, which are an ingame item that must be bought with PLEX from the NES store (though they can be sold on the market for isk just like anything else). The number of hypercores needed to start the raffle is scaled to the price you set, and acts as an additional markup similar to the sales tax (though it will fluctuate with the price of PLEX). Both of these values can be seen on Singularity already, and they're not cheap.

Here's the most important part, all raffles must last 3 days. If a raffle does not sell all of it's tickets, then it will fail to complete and you will lose all the hypercores you spent starting the raffle (though the sales tax will not be taken and you get the item back). To prevent constant loss of hypercores, the Hypernet raffles allow you the raffler to buy your own tickets to make sure that an raffle never fails to complete. However this is a terrible idea as you will lose a substantial amount of the profit by paying the full double sales tax for only a fraction of the payout that you anticipated. In fact, you will often end up losing money if you are unable to sell all the tickets for your raffle and end up having to buy a decent chunk of your own tickets. Not to mention, you will need to have a large chunk of isk on hand to make sure that you can finish your own raffle if interest is low, which for expensive items could be prohibitive.

So the most important thing to consider when using the Hypernet to sell some of your items is that you must ensure that your item will sell all of it's tickets in order for you to maximize the margin between your markup and the double sales tax. Luckily there is a way to do this by guaranteeing that your raffle has full interest before you even put the item on the Hypernet.

To make sure that your raffle has a crowd of hungry bidders ready to fill your raffle in seconds, you have to join the SOMER Club:

    https://www.twitch.tv/streamfleet/clip/ProtectiveBlatantVultureCclamChamp

SOMER Club is a discord community for highly motivated gamblers who are eager to bid on any and all raffles setup on the Hypernet, as well as participate in other forms of friendly wagers that you will not be able to find anywhere else in EVE. To join SOMER Club all you have to do is click on the link below and read the welcome post in the #foyer channel.

    https://discord.gg/WyQ3Pcc

By joining the SOMER Club, you will be able to use our raffle channel (and raffle bot coming soon) to ensure that there are actual buyers willing to buy your tickets before you risk losing all of your profit by starting a raffle that doesn't finish. The SOMER Club already has close to 35 trillion isk between it's members ready to bid on your raffle. By advertising your raffle to this community before actually starting it in game, you will be able to guarantee that you'll never have to eat a loss on the Hypernet again.

For people looking to bid on exclusive items, there will be no greater source of exclusive and extremely rare items than SOMER club. Every SOMER club member will have access to private raffles that only they can bid on before they are opened to the public. This will allow SOMER club members to secure the best chances to win each raffle, while all the peasants outside have to settle for a few left over tickets.

SOMER Club is also not just a source for the best hypernet conditions, it is a club for sophisticated gamblers to enjoy friendly competition with each other. The SOMER Club will feature a leaderboard for SOMER club members to compete among themselves to determine who is the most skilled gambler. There will also be a weekly SOMER Club live show streamed on Twitch where exclusive items are raffled off and the weekly winners of the SOMER Club scoreboard are presented.

Most importantly, (though this feature probably wont be ready for a week or two after launch), the SOMER Club will offer INSTANT BUYBACK on most items that are won via SOMER club raffles, so that you can receive isk for the item you just won and continue to gamble for the rest of the evening.

Also, the SOMER Club offers a high rollers club, for those truly wealthy capsuleers looking for entertainment that is hard to find elsewhere. The high rollers club will not only have access to their own exclusive raffles restricted even to regular SOMER club members, but they will also be able to participate and gamble among themselves in other ways that no one else in EVE can offer. For anyone who enjoys the rush of gaming (the casino kind, not the dumb kind), the SOMER Club high rollers lounge is the only place that can truly fulfill your needs. To join the high rollers lounge you must fill out the application in the #foyer channel on discord and be approved entry.

And finally, the SOMER Club is running a big kick off event on December 10th for the launch of Hypernet, where we will be raffling off a ton of extremely rare items live on stream. This kick off event on December 10th is your chance to win items that almost never come up for sale, INCLUDING MULTIPLE AT SHIPS (more confirmed every day!). To make sure that you don't miss out on the stream, join the SOMER club today and keep an eye on the announcements channel!

Don't be dumb and lose your money, join SOMER club and make sure you always get the best experience!

Edit: There is also now a fully fit Vanquisher confirmed for the December 10th Stream!

Remembering when I first started playing EVE...

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 05:24 PM PST

My character was 'born' on 9/18/2005, and I vividly remember the awe that struck me as I entered and flew around New Eden for the first time. The chill music meshing with the gorgeous visuals and the sense of scale when you warped to something and the planet would get big first, then the moon, then the station... I remember the first time I left my starting constellation and how all the system names all seemed new and exotic. I was scared of 0.7 systems, lol!

I remember not realizing that stuff you bought might not actually be at the station you were at - and you had to actually fly and go get it - or you could pay people to bring it to you - that is when the enormity of how open a sandbox EVE was really struck me - you could do anything you wanted, even if that thing was 'space trucking'!

I remember saving up for my first 'big' ship - It was a Hoarder (back then I think it wasn't an ammo ship?) - and I remember mining in that Hoarder, feeling like I had hit the big-time! lol...

Btw - downvote away, but this is what thousands of new players are experiencing right now in Eve Echoes, and I'm enjoying re-experiencing those memories through their eyes. I am playing Amarr because it's the one race I never played on PC so I get the feeling of new, unexplored space again

Jita local is above 1000 and yes it keeps crashing from too many new people (but ultimately that's a high class problem to have in an era of dwindling player counts on PC)... Amarr has more people in it than PC Amarr right now. There are currently no monetization mechanics in the game (you can't buy anything, not even skins, even if you wanted to) and I'm saving up my Planetary Commodities to build my first Venture (currently mining in a Coercer LOL)... the UI is streamlined for mobile of course, but some of the modifications would actually be improvements to the PC version, IMO.

Am I upset it is not just a mobile client for the PC game? No, because if it were, I wouldn't get to experience this as an entirely new New Eden, where no one has control and the market hasn't even gotten really going yet (what better time to build an industrial empire from the ground up?).

In short, I'm having fun with it, playing the way I want to play. Isn't that how we always tell people to play EVE?

Thinking of starting a small Corporation - how does it work?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 11:21 PM PST

So I realized that NPC corporation is bleeding 11% off my mission rewards and bounty payouts, which kinda sucks. Especially when I got to level 2 missions and finally started making a bit of more steady income compared to the hit and miss from exploration.

So I figured I could just start my own small corporation to evade taxation, and maybe have some friends join it too once they too figure out NPC corporation is a bunch of tax-hungry communists.

But how does it all work?

For instance... I read that you have to rent offices in stations. Is that expensive? Are there any benefits to having an office in a station (does it reduce cost of using facilities or something like that?)?

Are there any hidden costs with having a corporation at all like some kind of monthly or weekly fee for something?

What about incentives? Are there some boons you get from having a corporation of your own?

I saw you can have shared corporation hangars and such which seems nice if you play with friends and some are mining resources and others are building stuff like ammunition so all the trading can just go via the hangar instead of "peer to peer" trading. Is there other things besides hangar sharing and such though?

I'm really curious and intrigued about just starting a small time corporation of my own, but I'm also a bit in the dark what it all entails and how it works.

Thanks for any advice and thanks for reading!
