    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 12:13 PM PDT

Well I have tested positive for covid-19. However with my young age as well as usually having a good immune systems I should be ok. I was recently in Atlanta which seemed fine but in one day the cases in Georgia spiked by 200% primarily in Atlanta area so I assume I got it from my hotel I was staying at, for the week. I have yet to feel any major symptoms but I just wish that the rest of yall stay safe and make it through this. I dont want to lose any of my eve nerds, you guys where and still are a big part of my young life from Metalloid for taking me in to Vily letting me run a campaign in TEST, and now fighting in RC and having a fucking blast.

Be safe and see you in space fellow nerds. I plan to just blow up spaceships while I wait as long as I feel up to it.

Edit: Thank you all for the support, I love this game and especially its community its what kept me in it. Besides the short and harsh breaths as of now I think I'll be ok, I am more worried about passing it on to my parents then anything.

[Venal Prosperity Network] Update; Results of my Flash Orders

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 09:47 AM PDT

    https://preview.redd.it/j2j38gned2n41.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=c15220fd6f53f82da14fe149718adfee6960c616

    (.___.)/

Hello again r/eve, Avio Yaken here again.

Been awhile since i made an update post about the Venal Prosperity Network and the progress it's had. That's because we kinda did it already, 6NJ8-V ain't no Jita just yet, but it's becoming that trade hub that it wanted to become, and i do have everyone to thank for either playing along with it or coming down and supporting in some way.

SO instead, i wanna talk about what I've been doing in the meantime, some content that i've generically called "Flash Orders"

And what exactly are Flash orders?

    -----------------------------------------

Flash Orders are a new thing i've been doing since the last VPN update, little buy orders placed by me throughout Venal every now and then typically asking for cheap, dirt pay trade goods found in hisec, the payouts for these orders are to be very generous (as we will get into shortly) with bonus rewards in the form of free ships or other goods like Worm BPCs for those that can either fulfill the entire order or half of it before it's fulfilled. The Orders also come with little RP context, regarding whom among the non-Capsuleer population is requesting these goods, just to help add some immersion to everything.

    The stats so far

    ----------------------------------

I'd like to talk about the stats of this content as we've done 10 different Flash Orders by now, I've yet to do the numbers on how much I've spent just yet, but I'll be doing that here in this thread for the first time, so you'll all be witnessing the lose alongside me!

So here's how I'll do this, I'ma start off with presenting all the goods i bought at the price i paid for them, then I'll show all the bonuses that i've handed out - Then we add it all together, the costs of the goods and how much i paid for them, then another total that included the worth of the bonuses worth a damn.

    So let's Begin!

    Goods purchased

    -----------------------------

    [Flash Order for these goods]

    - 88 units of [Spirits] - 35,000 [ISK] per unit

-1x Every Light missile and Rocket BPO

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    The Total

    ---------------------------------------

I fucking hate doing math, But here we go

Due to place changing and not being fixed like my buy orders, around 150,571,437 ISk would've been spent on all requested goods.

The total i spent? 794,830,000 ISK on all of it, and if we we're to add the Worms BPCs ontop of that total amount? 1,312,910,000 ISK. Other bonuses do bump this total up a bit higher, but not by much.

    Who do dis

    -------------------------------

Why am i doing this? Well i wanna create content, something new and different and i aim to make it profitable to encourage people to engage with it. I've effectively created something that's low risk with high profits and in my own vision, a way for people to interact with the Guristas in a new way that could result in LP store items like the Worm BPCs I've been tossing in as bonuses for people.

I like adding personal thoughts to all these posts about the VPN i make as i want to get across my perspective and motivations, so allow me to just say that i don't care about the money, i what i care about is the RP and the hope that maybe i can push the lore of a faction i like in a positive way, i do want a more nuanced Guristas storyline and my attempts to create a trade hub have been for that, to create a story for the Guristas.

I got the trade hub now, on that front I am fulfilled and really unmotivated by anything else expect pushing a storyline. And I will potentially burn my entire in-game wallet to make it happen - At this point in time, this is the only thing that now motivates me.

    Closing Statements

    --------------------------------------------

Nothing else really to say, and sorry to say this hasn't been some massive update, but i felt like it was somewhat interesting to let people in on what i've been up to.

I like to thank everyone involved with my Flash Orders thus far! Your efforts have encouraged me to continue making them and paying you money for worthless gag items.

Is it worth it to start playing in 2020?

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 10:20 AM PDT

I'm a long time league player (about 2000 hours) and I'm looking to get into a new game. I know this game is pretty old, but I'm still willing to give it a chance. The reason why I played league for so long is because it's based on skill and anyone (even a complete beginner) has an equal chance. I understand that eve online is different in this aspect. What can I expect going into this game, and is it possible to have fun without spending a lot of money?

Report from the Field: Sansha's Nation Wormholes

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 07:00 AM PDT

    Hi lads.

Not too long ago I wanted to check up on something unique about three very specific wormholes in the game. I first heard about them from this website, and wanted to hop into one to see what it was like in them, and thus I figured I would share what I found out.

    About them wormholes

Normally, there are 13 different classes of wormholes in the game, namely the following: C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C12, C13, then you have C14 - C18 which are the five Drifter wormholes. C1 holes are usually PI holes, C2s have two statics so are popular for different reasons, C3s are your baseline bear holes: these are your so-called "low class". C4 holes also have two static connections but are in a very wierd spot right now. C5 is another popular class of hole for krabbing/jewing/ratting because they pay well and logistics is easier; C6s are pretty much krab holes at this point in the game. C12 is Thera, a unique hole with stations; C13s are Wolf-Rayet Star systems with frigate/destroyer focus and can be fun sometimes. Drifter holes are mostly kind of useful for their connections, when they are good: if you like scanning a lot and the annoyances of the wormholes specific to Drifter holes then 80+ signatures a day sounds like the right place for you.

Now Sansha holes are a separate catagory from these rest. All of them are C4 holes, in the same region (scroll to the bottom for constellation D-C00328) and constellation, are shattered holes, and thus have two W-Space statics and one K-space static. There are no Sleeper anomalies, Sleeper combat relic or data sites in these holes (i.e. there are no Forgotten Frontier Conversion Module combat relic sites). Instead there are Sansha combat anomalies, Sansha data sites, Sansha Ghost Sites, Sansha relic sites, Sansha DED sites (no Unrated sites though), and interestingly enough -- Sleeper Caches can spawn here too.

Having been to all classes of holes and spent plenty of time in all of them, I have never seen a Limited, Standard or Superior Sleeper Cache in any wormhole system aside from one of these Sansha holes. I have had people tell me they've seen them in w-space, but without definitive proof of it, I can't be so convinced. The official CCP dev post introducing Sleeper Caches says they spawn in all parts of space, but -- again, never seen them outside of one of these most unique systems. (One thing for sure I can say is that I haven't watched Thera, but I heard VOLTA or EVE-Scout can tell us for sure.)

Anyways, the anomalies are pretty much the same ones you get in any average nullsec system: Havens, Santums, Forsaken Hubs, stuff like those. Haven't seen any highsec or lowsec quality ones (like Burrows or Dens). Data sites are the same ones you get in any lowclass hole (C1, C2, C3, C13s) or nullsec system. The Ghost Sites are Improved Sansha Covert Research Facility sites, the same tier as you get in nullsec. (Normally in wormhole space you get the Superior grade.) The gas sites are any regular w-space gas sites you might find in a C5, C6 or shattered hole: the usual trash sites and once in awhile you'll see a high-end gas site.

The relic sites are the same tier as the data sites, any low class hole, C13 or nullsec system, and usually number 3-4 per day when I check them (they may be ran before I get them scanned though). The DED sites -- well, I've seen a few DED 3/10s, but usually they're 5/10s and 6/10s, with an inkling of 4/10s splashed in. Only seen one DED 10/10 so far, and two DED 2/10s. It's literally like an active nullsec system that got plucked out of Sansha space and the stargates swapped for wormholes.

At the present time I am unaware of how any anomaly escalation will occur. Some folks may chime in here with their experience, if there is any doubt a character will stay logged off in a Sansha hole until the next Singularity mirror and then we will know for sure then.

Cool -- but how active are these holes? Well to answer that question, thanks to pilots on Reddit here, I snuck in two of the three holes, then bribed someone else to get into the nullsec hole. They are thus: * J010556 - P060 C1 static, N766 C2 static, D845 highsec static * J011195 - X877 C4 static, H900 C5 static, U210 lowsec static * J005299 - C247 C3 static, H900 C5 static, K346 nullsec static

Having logged off 3 characters in each hole, I spent two weeks logging signatures and just poking around them. I created a shared bookmark folder for all 3 characters, then carefully logged each and every signature. When the signature was expired it went into folder so we can look at it later. Let's discuss the particulars of each hole below.

    J010556 "Highsec"

Without a doubt the most active as far as Sansha holes goes. There are a few anchored containers in space and more kills happen in this hole than the others. Honestly this hole would make for some fanastic baiting and PvP shenanigans. It's also a pretty small hole, you can d-scan across the entire system pretty easily. To understand the activity in the hole a little differently let's divide the content in the hole itself according to their groups:

    • Anomalies: Activity is possible: someone may be running them(1) but nothing indicated such (no wrecks on D or such).
    • DED Combat Sites: These are run somewhat regularly, all DED tiers.
    • Data Sites: Usually snapped up the same day.
    • Gas Sites: Seems like only the valuable high-end gas sites seem to be completed, with the "mid grade" sites (i.e. Vast Frontiers) completed here and there.
    • Relic Sites: These get snapped up same day guaranteed. Good for baiting or dunking. Although I also have seen 8 in a single day -- and they were all gone the next day, picked clean to just 15 signatures in the hole.

Once I logged in and only had 5 signatures on D: 2 Ordinary Perimeter Reservoirs and the 3 static hole connections.

    • Wormhole connections: Usually 3+2 connections per day, on average: 3 statics + 2 wandering connections or statics coming from other holes. I didn't poke into the other holes as part of this project.

Given the activity level on zKillboard, you'd expect to see ship wrecks and other stuff on dscan. Actually I have yet to see that here yet: the time I log in to check the holes is probably a big contributing factor to this. I haven't seen much for other ships on dscan: early on I saw a Heron, a Sunesis scanning a few days later, and that's pretty much about it. No ratting ships or other people logging off or doing anything. This hole would be definitely best to bait in EU TZ, and by reason of the highsec static, is the most accessible.

While watching the zKillboard page for this site a few weeks ago, I noticed some interesting pointers. While it is a Sansha hole, why are there Sleeper NPCs on people's lossmails? Most importantly, why are there Sansha Incursion NPCs on killmails too?

To answer these questions, I poked around a bit. Obviously the Gas sites will have the usual Sleeper responders, nothing out of the ordinary there. There's no asteroid belts, but you do get the usual shattered hole mining anomalies. But wouldn't those be replaced by Sansha NPCs too? Answer is no, Sleepers patrol those. Well, then where do the Sansha Incursion rats come from, you ask? Answer: They're at the Epicenter. They don't camp holes, the Sun, or planets (there's 4 planets in '556).

    J011195 "Lowsec"

This one is fairly quiet, with no real interesting activity to speak of. Not a bad choice to rat out of, since you have the lowsec static to help you extract out of easily. Pretty standard sized hole, with some tiny spots you can squeeze in an off-d log off spot.

    • Anomalies: Appears to be undisturbed.
    • DED Combat Sites: I'm pretty sure someone (hi there) is running the 4/10s, but the 6/10s and 8/10s go undisturbed.
    • Data Sites: Usually there's a few around when I check in for new signatures, so it's not as rapid-fire as the highsec, but there's definitely someone who keeps and eye on them.
    • Gas Sites: No real activity observed.
    • Relic Sites: Oh yeah. Someone has definitely logged off an alt here to run them, although it's also probably one than one "someone".
    • Wormhole connections: Pretty much 3 statics and maybe 1 wandering connection, sometimes 2, but pretty quiet. Nothing like a C13 shattered hole, those are nuts.

Overall not that bad of hole to krab for a bit to run some of the sites. Someone may be watching, though, doing EU TZ.

    J005299 "Nullsec"

I like to think this would be the best krab alt log off hole, by reason of its even lower activity level than the lowsec one. It's a larger system than the '195 hole, so it's easier to squeeze in an off-d log off spot in there. There's still a DED 10/10 in there as I write this.

    • Anomalies: Barren. Most probably expire from lack of activity.
    • DED Combat Sites: Someone maaay be running the lower tier 4/10s and 5/10s. The 6/10s are also being run on occasion, as they're being ran in EU TZ or something.
    • Data Sites: Whoever is running the relic sites has an eye on these, but it's not as vigourous as the highsec one in terms of signature today - no signature tomorrow factor.
    • Gas Sites: Nothing remarkable here, nobody seems to do them, although the high-end gas sites are occasionally ran.
    • Relic Sites: Gone same day. At least two people are logged off in this hole specifically for the relic sites.
    • Wormhole connections: Pretty standard to see the 3 statics and maybe 1 or 2 wandering connections, sometimes just the 3 statics were the only ones for a few days.

I thought about running the sites in this hole, but then I thought about how fast the Tengu can chew through missiles, and kind of reconsidered it. I live in Black Rise, it's not difficult for me to go into the empty sov null not far and run those instead for less effort. Especially since the Rattlesnake is on high price tag season. However those 6/10s are sooo tempting...Accessibility shouldn't be too bad, since the C3 static guarantees a k-space connection, so it's not like having, say, a C4 home system with a C4/C5 statics...

I didn't see anybody camping any holes whenever I logged in, hell-bubbled holes or anything real macho like a Sleipnir blob or a gaggle of destroyers. So while the holes are very much "occupied" they're not like 1DQ levels of crazyness. People are definitely logged off in each hole to run the relic sites so those of who are of the hunter type, grab your interdictors and bombers when you're up for a different hunting ground.

I think these holes are pretty neat. Baiting fights in the EU TZ out of the highsec hole sounds just so delicious to me, I don't know why.

    Thanks for reading!

    Bonus Bits

Here is a link to an Imgur album of mine which showcases the stuff I saw and thought you lot would like.

Here is a link to a pastebin of the signatures scanned (total signatures/bookmarks resolved: 440). The right most column was scrubbed of names aside from my main. Signature naming scheme: R means Relic, D means Data, G means Gas, W means Wormhole, and C means Combat. I won't go too far into describing the wormhole bookmarking scheme since I usually just logged in, bookmarked everything and logged off. Sorted by Name, Solar System and Date.

    (1) Saw an Ishtar (12005 «☼» Space✠Police Ishtar -) around 04:15 on 2020.3.12. Pilot was TenSpeed from POS Party. Had a passive shield (appeared to be) Ishtar with a Police SKIN on it and a 10MN Afterburner, was doing a Sanctum. With a Packrat MTU. Didn't know it was a thing for POS Party members to have 60 day old characters ratting. Saw a Gila (17715 ♠ Gila -) for flash, but also saw an Occator with the same tags as the Ishtar earlier, too. Most likely is bait.

    Sunday Night Rumbles in Vale

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 07:40 AM PDT

Greetings, capsuleers and redditors. Cactusjack48 here with yet another update of some fights in the Vale of the Violent.

Former Goonswarm Federation corporation Terrifying League of Dogfort (DOGFT) has joined in on the content-rich North. Yesterday night they decided to toast Reverberation Project's (ECHO) capital iHub in the IFJ-EL system with a terrifying force of assault frigates. A solo roamer from Rote Kapelle noticed a fight going on between DOGFT's assault frigates and ECHO's Orthrus/Osprey Navy/Basi fleet and pinged for some potential content to be had. Lines of communication were opened between the two fleets and a trap was hatched: DOGFT would provide tackle while Rote/Unspoken would counter with HML Sacrileges. However, an ECHO forward scout noticed the Sac fleet burning and the ECHO fleet bounced off of the IFJ-EL gate and onto their fortizar. DOGFT brought in another entosis prophecy and continued to toast the iHub. ECHO decided to not allow this to happen in their capital system and engaged the Sacrileges. The fight was bloody on both sides, as DOGFT's assault frigates were mowed down by the RLML Fleet (Now with Cerbs & Orthruses with Basi support); however, the CFC's Sacs chewed through the Orthruses, removing critical damage off the field and controlling the grid. After losing much of the RLML fleet, ECHO retreated to their staging Fortizar and upshipped to RHML Armageddons with Scorpion support. Suddenly a DOGFT HAW Dread cynos in, and starts chewing on the propless battleships. ECHO, not to be outdone, drops a Cap-Gun fit dread and two carriers, as well as the subcap fleet, to drop the HAW Dread when another cyno is lit and DOGFT's dreadnought fleet jumps in and makes short work of the Cap-Gun Dread. Unfortunately, as is goon tradition, the fail to tackle both carriers and one escapes. While this is going on, a Federated Alliance of Mafias (FAM) Osprey Navy fleet lands and begins shooting tackle pilots, and so a subcap scuffle begins between FAM and the CFC Sac fleet. DOGFTs caps extract, much shittalking and eventual GFs are exchanged in local, the iHub is saved by ECHO, and the CFC begins extracting back to Tribute.

    Final IFJ-EL battle report: https://br.inyour.space/?s=254&b=9048960&e=193&t=Hquv

On the way back to Tribute, the FAM fleet catches up and engages on the 9OO-LH gate, where another small fleet engagement happens, with the CFC coming out victorious.

    9OO-LH battle report: https://br.inyour.space/?s=247&b=9049080&e=90&t=u

All in all, it was a fantastic fight over what started as some content entosising. Great fight from ECHO, they fucking brought it THREE times and even counter-escalated with capitals. Too bad DOGFT blew their load too early and jumped in too many dreads :D

How does a Frigate Bay buff Battleships in any way?

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 08:35 AM PDT

Trying to find how the 1 "buff" CCP gives to battleships actually helps battleships in any way. As usual, CCP has resorted to gimmicks instead of actually balancing a ship class properly.

Sure, its hard to balance battleships when they are vulnerable against everything except battlecruisers, but there are certainly better adjustments that could be made to them rather than giving them a completely useless frigate bay.

If i wanted to fly frigates, i'd just undock in a frigate.

Not cram some meme fit, low risk, insta-warp frigate into my battleship to escape. Or, in the case of fleet fights, create some EWAR meme of maulus/griffins when your battleship fleet gets DD'd, bombed or otherwise wiped out.

How does a frigate bay improve flying a battleship itself?

I feel like CCP is completely oblivious to this point. If the proposed change has no affect on the ship itself, what is even the point?

For example, if i fit up an Armageddon Navy Issue and it dies to.. pretty much anything. How will it pooping out a retribution do anything to improve flying an Armageddon Navy Issue? Does adding a frigate bay fix the Abaddon (after its damage buffs) being better than the Armageddon Navy Issue in any way? No. Nothing changes at all about battleships, sure you've added a gimmick, but the ships themselves are still in the exact same spot.

How about finally fixing the scan resolution on battleships so they aren't at the same (or worse) scan res as some capital ships. Hell even just fixing the Rokh and the Scorpion Navy Issue would be a good start.

What about the Navy Battleships and Navy classes in general?

Why can't we get a decent effort rebalance in ship classes like we've had before in updates like Odyssey Where the changes were well thought out, heavily affected the meta and allowed new fits to be created.

Even a new T1 line of EWAR disruption battleships to give each race a "Scorpion" type battleship to suit their respective EWAR could potentially be interesting. Which was hinted at back in Odyssey. Also, give Caldari their missing combat battleship or allow the Rokh to be multi-role by giving it 4 more launcher slots (literally, thats all you need to do, no fitting changes needed).

Maybe these are things that are being looked at for the future, but i'd rather just wait for an actual full balance than whatever this frigate bay gimmick is. It also sets precedent for other ship classes pooping out smaller ship classes. Are capitals going to drop cruisers or battlecruisers when they die when CCP can't come up with ways to balance them? Why are battleships special here?

None of this make sense from any perspective.

I'm sure some of your excited for this change as it may add some depth and trickery in fleets, or provide some extra insurance in lowsec for your pods. Thats fine, not trying to piss in your cheerios, but it'd be nice for people who actually enjoy flying battleships to get some actual balance efforts. Shake up the meta, create new fits/doctrines, but to do that, we need actual stat/trait changes, not gimmicks.

Is there an optimal amount of account/characters to have?

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 05:41 AM PDT

So far I only have only one character that I play. But I know that having multiple accounts and a lot of characters is very benefitial in this game.
How many characters do I need to be able to tackle every single activity the game has to offer?
Preferably optimized for as less accounts as you can, combining some types of activities on one character, where it is optimal

    Expansion Announcement Dates

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 07:43 PM PDT

I posted in the other Eve Reddit page but figured I'd ask here too:

Does anyone know where I can find the announcement dates for all the major expansions? Like the ones listed on the wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expansions_of_Eve_Online

I've tried looking through different sources but I can't find one with definitive announcement dates from CCP on the major expansions :/

    Thank you in advance!
