I think I like the idea of Eve Online more than I actually like Eve Online...

    Posted: 16 May 2020 07:38 PM PDT

I've done most of what there is to do in Eve, yet I constantly follow the same cycle:

I sub. I'm excited to play and love it for a time

The excitement and enjoyment wanes and diminishes over time

I log in less and less until I don't log in for weeks or months on end (last time was a year)

Get nostalgic because Pretty Spaceships and resub

    Rinse and repeat.

I just can't stick with it and, inb4 cAn I hAs YoUr StUfF , honestly...a good chunk of it is the community. So much of it is just way more toxic than I want to be part of. Hell, I've been playing fewer and fewer online games for this exact reason. I've met some good people in my time on Eve, but I haven't made any of the lasting connections, at least none that still exist.

It's honestly a bit depressing because it's such a beautiful game, but I always feel restricted when I play it. Whether by my own knowledge and skills, what I perceive the devs want me to do, or the toxicity of too much of the community.

Maybe I'll feel the itch again, soon but, even if I do, I can't justify subbing to a game I barely play. And if I'm not subbed (I have nearly 90mil SP), then what's the point? I'm not going to log in and use 5% of my stuff... Idk.

    TL;DR - I am Sad Panda

[SISI] Chapter 3 is coming. Strings from Singularity about the future of High-Security space (and beyond?)

    Posted: 16 May 2020 01:29 PM PDT

Hi! There has been a lot of talk about the stuff that hit Hobos this week, and I am concerned that a lot of conclusions and theories have been thrown around. I have compiled the best collection of strings that I have found information about the feature coming. I hope this can help us as a player base process and prepare for a hopefully never-before-seen game-changing event.

    tl:dr my best guess:

There are two new organizations as part of Invasion Chapter 3.

EDENCOM is an extension of CONCORD's AEGIS division created to unite the efforts of the empires against the Triglavian Invasions.

The new Invasions system will allow the Trig to "capture" solar systems.

Now Triglavian systems, Security status is reduced. It is unknown at this time what it will take to prevent, cause, or undo this damage.

You will gain and lose standings with the Convocation of Triglav, and EDENCOM, and this will control which factions are friendly and which are not while you are operating in Invasion contested systems.

    Strings from Chapter 3:

    "TriglavianInvasionChapterThree":

The Triglavian invasion of New Eden has reached its climax with stellar harvesting structures being built as World Arks return to oversee the final phase of the Collective's campaign. EDENCOM has taken command of the defense of New Eden and urges all capsuleers to redouble their efforts to halt and repel the invaders. In response, Triglavian memetic propaganda has risen to a new crescendo. The proving offered by Zorya Triglav remains open to all capsuleers who would betray civilization and side with the invaders from Abyssal Deadspace.

The future shape of the New Eden cluster will be decided in this epic conflict among the stars!

    Text about Chap 3

Depending on the stage of the Invasion the presence of different sizes of Triglavian and EDENCOM fleets are expected. Use D-Scan and/or Combat Probing to find and engage these fleets.

    Also

Influence indicates the progress each side has made towards changing the operational state of the system in their favor. Influence is gained for a side by supporting them and engaging in combat against their enemies.

    And

Your standings towards EDENCOM and the Triglavian Collective will determine which forces may attack you in these systems.

"Dazh Porevitium Transmuter" (Dazh means sun, Porevitium may mean "permeability" or "ability to have holes poked in it" and is a property of certain stars.)

The construction of these vast structures is clearly a key goal of this phase of the Triglavian Collective's invasion campaign. EDENCOM intelligence has assessed these huge arrays with their central structure as stellar harvesting installations capable of delving profoundly into the stars they are orbiting.

The clear intent of the unimaginable spatio-temporal manipulations these structures are undertaking is to harvest certain resources, and in doing so completely transform the nature of the star itself. This assessment has been implicitly confirmed by this type of installation's repeating monitor signals containing the deciphered term «Dazh Porevitium Transmuter».

While these structures initially carry out limited probing and sampling, the power and reach of the harvester escalates tremendously as an array of zero-point mass-energy entanglers is constructed around the core harvester. Barely understood Triglavian techniques that had hitherto seemed a mere scientific curiosity will surely have dire consequences for any star system where their full capability is achieved.

EDENCOM considers elimination of the threat posed by Triglavian structures of this kind to have the highest priority for its defense fleets and allied capsuleers.

    "Extractive Super-Nexus"

This Triglavian structure serves as the processing and control center of the Collective's efforts to gather material resources for the construction of other structures and fleet reinforcements in this system. As with other major Triglavian installations, this structure is emitting a high volume of heavily-encrypted signals traffic. A repeating signal that apparently serves as a beacon or monitor signal has been partially deciphered and contains references to «Extractive Super-Nexus», presumably the structure itself, and «Xordazh Chislov Zvemokorg noemata».

EDENCOM considers the destruction of Triglavian resource-gathering operations to be a high priority for its forces and allied capsuleers.

    EDENCOM Stockpile Tenshu

With the need for resources vastly increased in star systems undergoing fortification by EDENCOM, the Upwell Consortium has provided the ideal structure design for a fortified harvesting co-ordination and resource collection hub.

The Stockpile Tenshu is a vital element in the EDENCOM defense plan and should be defended at all costs against Triglavian invasion forces and renegade capsuleers. Those wishing to aid the cause of New Eden's defense through resource-gathering operations will find a warm welcome at the EDENCOM Stockpile Tenshu.

    "EDENCOM Cynosural Jammer"

In order to guard against the threat of pirate and renegade capital fleets interfering with EDENCOM defense operations, the deployment of cynosural jammer units has been authorized in all invasion zones. EDENCOM forces supplied by the core empires will operate capital battlegroups using their own cynosural beacon networks where they are needed in the defense against the Triglavian invaders.

    Stages of the Invasion:

    Scout

Scouting forces belonging to both EDENCOM and the Triglavian Collective are conducting recon operations focused on the central star of this system but roaming widely across the system. Both sides are seeking to establish stellar observatory structures.

    Triglavian Establishment

The presence of Triglavian structures and forces in this system has built up to the point that it constitutes a serious danger to the future of the system. EDENCOM forces will continue to strike against Triglavian targets in this system.

    Triglavian Victory

The Triglavian stellar harvesting and manipulation efforts have reached their peak, and the Triglavian Collective has conquered the system. EDENCOM considers this system lost to the Triglavian Collective and will redeploy defensive efforts to systems that can still be saved.

    Empire Fortification

This system has been fortified by EDENCOM to the degree that it serves as a redoubt against Triglavian invasion operations. The Triglavian Collective will continue to strike against EDENCOM targets in this system.

    Fortification Escalation

This system has been fortified by EDENCOM to the degree that it serves as a formidable bulwark from which Triglavian invasion operations can be resisted. The Triglavian Collective will continue to strike against EDENCOM targets in this system.

    Empire Fortified

This system has been fortified by EDENCOM to the point that it is now an unbreakable fortress that the Triglavians will find far too hard a target to conquer. Ongoing Triglavian invasion efforts will move to more vulnerable targets.

    Highsec becomes lowsec:

The CONCORD Security response level in the destination system has been decreased from {[numeric]fromSecurity, decimalPlaces=1} to {[numeric]toSecurity, decimalPlaces=1}. because it is being Invaded. You accept this risk by jumping through this gate.

    And

Effective CONCORD security response and penalty level is severely reduced in this system due to Triglavian invasion operations.

Wardecs end if HQ is in a system with compromised Security:

The war between {declaredByName} and {againstName} is coming to an end. The war headquarters {warHQ} chosen by {declaredByName} are in a solar system that is no longer fully protected by CONCORD. The war will be declared as being over after approximately 24 hours.

After {[datetime]endDate, date=full, time=short} CONCORD will again respond to any hostilities between those involved with full force.

    Confused about Abyssal Deadspace Filaments

    Posted: 16 May 2020 10:28 PM PDT

Hi all, just started playing eve last month. So far I understand that you solo calm filaments in T1 or T2 cruisers, or do them with friends in T1 or T2 frigates. What are the ship requirements on the abyssal filaments above calm for solo and co-op, and what makes them more difficult and/or lucrative?

BREAKING NEWS - GOONS DEPLOY INTO HOSTILE SPACE

    Posted: 16 May 2020 02:15 PM PDT

No wait, we've got more intel coming in....

Goons have in-fact deployed on mass to... F7C-H0 in Cloud Ring...

We're not quite sure on the play here Jim, they'll have trouble getting their strikers into R1O with a pass like that but, as we all know, Mittens is a master tactician and I'm sure there's something us mortals can't comprehend going on but it's looking like an own goal so far, back to the studio for now!

Yeet fleets have made me engaged in eve again

    Posted: 17 May 2020 01:49 AM PDT

Thank you, CCP. Needlejack filaments have made the game engaging and fun for me again. Although I can't exactly say I'm the most competent FC, having a way to immediately deliver a 15 man fleet into the heart of enemy space has been extremely fun and a good way to theorycraft dumb small cruiser-down comps and hone my target calling skills. Changes like this are good for the game IMO. Keep it up!

Is putting a bounty considered an aggressive movement in general?

    Posted: 16 May 2020 09:52 PM PDT

As I start to play in Tranquility a few days ago someone told me people sometimes putting the bounty for fun, and he just put a couple of millions on me and I feel it's pretty cool.

And even though the bounty system has been removed from Serenity long ago so I have very limited memories about it back to when I played in Serenity, I do believe people don't take it seriously in general and will put it for fun in Serenity as well.

But today I do so to someone and he told me it's kinda rude, he already has some bounty so I just round it up to a whole number, kinda an OCD thing.

As it's kinda a cultural thing, just want to know in general in tranquility how are people consider about putting a bounty to others?

Lost a VNI, a Gila and my Prospect Yesterday

    Posted: 16 May 2020 10:30 AM PDT

Was a bit depressed, but quickly got over it. I just suck at EVE, and this is why I am fairly happily learning why I lost those ships. Both the Gila and the VNI were poorly built, and my tactics were far less than optimal. The Prospect I lost because I was not paying enough attention.

I can build Ventures all day and I should practise losing miners with them for now. ;) I actually have my Algos in a good place and have started learning how to fight it.

    Posted: 16 May 2020 12:59 PM PDT

So somehow I have an account I didn't realize and bought omega for it. After opening a ticket and realizing the account didn't share an email address with the account im playing on launching from steam i log into the other account after seeing the starter bundle. After seeing the receipt message to restart that's what I did. When I log back in I don't think anything about character name and ignore the fact that the game has logged into the wrong character. Not paying attention to where I was docked and both accounts piloting a venture I start looking at skills and the market to finally realize I'm on the wrong account again and everything has been applied to it after using the store on 2 different accounts. SGGRN & T.R.C & FSHVM vs Snuff & AVDOT fight,230B lost. Snuff is back!

    Posted: 16 May 2020 06:48 AM PDT

    Hello all,

A fight with SGGRN's nemesis Snuff has occurred in ignoitton for poco.

    https://zkillboard.com/related/30002647/202005161200/

Snuff and AVDOT rolled out a lot of DNs and we focused on shooting down the Subcap as much as possible, but we were forced to withdraw because the fax was wiped out.

Despite having disbanded once, Snuff has proved to possess a great power in Low-sec. Even though we lost, we all enjoyed the low-sec fight. It's great for everyone to be active in Low-sec again, and for us it would be even better if we could win.

    GF all.
