    NJED Eviction

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 10:11 PM PDT

Well, it's all over for us in J103731. Holesale and Exit-Strategy, good fight. We did our best to fight you off, but we had too many cats to herd, and you guys are just too damn good at what you do. Well done fellas. Our Forts are gone, our assets gone. We will return.

To all of my NJED friends. I love you guys and I'm proud of the fight we put up. I was proud to lose Laioken's Vehement in defense of our home with you, and I wish I could have done more.

Capsuleers Invited to the First Memorial Service at the New Molea Cemetary

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 06:26 PM PDT

    Service Information

At 1800 Hours New Eden Standard Time Tuesday, July 21st we will be departing Pemene and traveling to Molea to anchor Theris' remains.

It is my sad duty to announce that one of our own, Theris Newydd, has sadly passed.

At 4:45 EST on 7/14/2020 Justin suffered a fatal heart attack. EMTs tried to help him for a half-hour but ultimately they couldn't save him.

Our community was thankful to be allowed in on the stream for the funeral service but we wish to honor him with an in-game tribute at the new Molea Cemetary. Next week CCP will be adding the Molea Cemetery monument, and I would like this to be the first service at the monument.

Theris is well known to many within our community. He joined us on November 7th of last year, a little under a month into his time in EVE. Originally attracted to the Convocation by Pocket's Youtube videos, Theris quickly found a home with us making many close friends. He loved to run missions with and for others and has been one of Marcus' best friends and hauling buddies. He credited us for saving him from quitting EVE and ultimately he made us all better with his time, his effort, and his friendship. We all suffer collectively and individually from this loss.

During his time with us, he shared a lot about who he was. He loved to share his cooking with us, as well as his recipe for short rib chili (posted at the bottom of this document). He was frequently in public voice and the voice-coms chat and even shared with us his night out with his son at the Fox Theater last December. Here is an album of many of the images he shared with us.

He flew alongside us during some of the most pivotal moments in our journey as an organization. He was there when CCP Convict flew with us against the Templis Dragonaurs, he was there when we stood together to defend Amoderia and destroyed the Revelation attacking our structure, and he could Yeet filament with the best of them. He did once have a bit of trouble hauling Hawks in Uedama. Most recently he flew with our FOB clearing fleet to help take down the Guristas base in Pemene. Sadly, this will be his final act of service for the Convocation.

We were contacted by a coworker, and are attempting to reach out to see if there is anything we can do for the family or his real-life friends. Obviously we have those within our organization who are more impacted than others.

We live in extraordinarily trying times, but this seems sudden and unexpected even beyond what can be considered "normal" for this seemingly cursed year. I can't help but think about all the times I saw Theris hanging out in the mission channels and thought about joining but didn't. It is often too easy to put off something to another day, and this can lead to putting off each other to another day. I take this as a powerful message for myself to remember to cherish the opportunities you get to have with these wonderful people we get to spend time with. In times this troublesome, we must actively fight to keep the lamps lit.

Seek friendship. Seek help from others. Theris loved this community, and this community loves Theris. We will take his inspiration. We will use one another to heal, and to grow, and to struggle together.

To close, this is the poem "Eyes forward, Capsuleer". The poem was first posted over 5 years ago and has been echoed repeatedly in honor of those Capsuleers who have been lost to us. These words are etched into the very fabric of EVE Online, as the distribution of Moon resources was done with the seed generated from the text.

Eyes forward, capsuleer, the cyno is not yet lit. Consider your modules, your rigs and ammo before you undock, for the cyno is not yet lit. Break free of the station and witness the universe before you, For the cyno is not yet lit. Set your ship to fly through the vastness while you wait, For the cyno is not yet lit. Pay attention, capsuleer, for those who have gone before you call for you to join them. The cyno is now lit.

Theris' Short Rib Chili 12-15 lbs bone-in short rib 1 #10 can of crushed tomatoes 1/2 cup of cumin 1 head of garlic 1 + 1/2 large white onion 3 cans of red kidney beans 2 cans of white beans Ancho chili powder Chili powder Cayenne pepper 2 fresh habanero peppers 1) Brown short ribs on all sides in a large pot, a few at a time. 2) Place all ribs back into the pot and cover with crushed tomatoes. Cook at 350F / 175C for 5-6 hours, until meat falls off of the bone. 3) Add beans, onion and chili powder to taste. 4) Reduce heat to low; simmer for 3 more hours. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. 5) Refrigerate overnight. Skim the fat off of the top before reheating.

    EVE Monument - July 2020

    Posted: 19 Jul 2020 01:54 PM PDT

I visited Iceland last week (vacation) and during our stay in Reykjavik I did my mandatory pilgrimage to the EVE monument. I haven't played for several years, but I had to see my old player name etched in steel. Lots of good memories :-)

Well... The link below shows a few pictures. The monument is a bit worn and the tiles with all the player names are a bit rusty in some places. One tile is missing which is a bit sad (countless of player names lost forever!!). There is a bit of graffiti too (bastards!!)

BTW: Nice country. Shitty weather. Can recommend 10/10
