Snuffed out message to Rocket X/RC

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 03:08 PM PDT

In recent weeks, Snuff has been upgrading its spysec infrastructure to detect intel relays and burn spies within our ranks, manipulating the intel they have access to for the security of all of us, along with our directorship's personal amusement. We've been fucking with RC via our own intel relays (hi guys LMAO).

Firstly, we have discovered that the best way to get an RC spy is to apply normally. Just like you would literally anywhere else.

A low effort intel grab, but I present to you a few screenshots:

    https://i.imgur.com/dm4aZNN.png

    https://i.imgur.com/SPZiKPj.png

Secondly, due to RC hiding behind their deep US TZ structures, we had no choice but to infiltrate and help RC rid themselves of krabs by destroying all the jobs/rigs in their Y-MP Sotiyo.

In an attempt to prevent RC staying docked, we decided to transfer 1 Faction Fortizar, 2 Fortizars, 7 Astras and 11 Athanors from within their grasp along with a bunch of assets.

In total, around 350b has been extracted (so far) from within RC along with hundreds of billions in clones and industrial jobs.

Happy St Patrick's Day Rocket x!

//edit if anyone wants to buy (https://i.imgur.com/6LNWXTx.png) contact penifsmash ingame, cba selling them myself.

    Things that confuse newbies

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 09:54 AM PDT

I haven't found a good corp yet, so I spend my time in rookie help answering questions. Here are some of the things that people are getting confused with like once an hour or more:

    1) Why are there no asteroids in the asteroid belts in newbie systems? (they get mined out in the second half of every day in popular starter systems)

    2) How to reprocess and compress ore ("I got a bunch of veldspar but the mission says I need tritanium"), and the difference between NPC and player stations so we can explain compressing

    3) The newbie exploration mission requiring a proof of anomaly or some kind of thing.

    4) Why can you launch scanner probes by clicking on the module without the scanner UI coming up?

    5) Why 0.4 is completely different from 0.5, but 0.5 is basically the same as 0.6.

    6) Why is this can yellow and why can't I take stuff from it?

    7) What do I do after the tutorial?

Each of these questions gets asked at least once an hour, if not multiple times per hour.

Then there are the ones that you can only just feel bad for the newbie:

    • "I just got podded by some NPCs on a gate, why?" (We have to explain that CCP hates newbies, and triglavians are their instrument of punishment for the crime of being new)

    • "I was out hunting NPCs and got killed when I attacked one with a diamond on it's name" (we have to explain why diamond rats don't telegraph their difficulty at all)

    • I jumped into a wormhole and went to a data site and got killed by NPCs there (we have to explain that they need to read the color of the background and crossreference site names from the wiki to see what's safe)

I know CCP has largely given up on the NPE, but I just wanted to point out that it continues to suck.

    Weird things you do.

What weird things do you do when you're alone in comms, corp chat or system?

I'll sometimes sing on comms or have conversations with my alts if I'm bored.

I know I'm crazy but who else is with me on this?

Can we have "save/restore UI layout"?

Holy shit the amount of times I have to adjust windows positions just cause I want to have two accounts running on one screen for a bit.

[BR] Imperium and Papi have an even fight at last

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 02:23 AM PDT

    BR: https://br.evetools.org/br/60518766002302001ac4df5e

Very long fight, excellent work from both sides. Here's the story...

I logged in and noticed that an unfitted corp Astrahus had a hull timer in a dead-end system(8RQJ) coming out in a few minutes, so I formed up 7 dudes in random nano cruisers and waited. A few minutes before the timer, a covert cyno opens and about 50 imperium bombers and Asteros bridge in. We wait for them to engage and then bridge in a few Orthrus and ONIs. We kill a few bombers with the help of a small handful of sniping Tengus from TEST, and then they leave. A few minutes later local spikes and about 30 more imperium arrive in caracals.

Seeing that we can't really fight this, we form a small Horde ferox fleet of about 40 and bridge in, killing a few of the caracals(most were saved by a truly excellent boosh from their FC). At this point goons start pinging and bring in an even larger Ferox fleet. Things escalate pretty quickly at this point and TEST/Legacy arrive in a small Cerberus fleet to finish off the goon Caracals. There's a bit of dancing around and the Imperium Ferox fleet leaves. At this point, I feel pretty confident our Astrahus will be saved when a large goon Cerberus fleet shows up. At this point we aren't really in an ideal composition and decide to reform Horde/NC/PL in Muninns as the Astrahus dies.

Goons decide to press the advantage and start entosising the IHUB. At this point we've extracted from the system, which is a dead-end, and goons are now forming a muninn fleet as well. We now have pretty evenly matched fleets with 1 Muninn and cerberus fleet each in addition to a small goon tornado fleet, but they are set up on the ingate. We jump into them and in the beginning things aren't going well for us. We pull away a bit, and then the Cerb FC makes a deadly mistake and pings. Immediately, both of our fleets warp to zero and begin approaching the hostile anchor. The thinly tanked Cerberus start falling quickly and eventually the hostile FC attempts to warp out. A clutch bubble catches about a third of his fleet and the FC himself(hi dave), which allows us to claw back some of the losses from the jump-in.

At this point we reset, go to the IHUB and clear entosis. Imperium bridges in reinforcements and warps in; there's a quick engagement where we are poorly positioned and lose a few ships before disengaging. We also re-ship and skirmish a bit before finally clearing the IHUB grid which finally goes invulnerable.

At this point, Imperium goes next door and camps us into the dead-end system, setting up at range and starting entosis on the next door IHUB(NIDJ). There is a brief Mexican standoff before for some reason, the goon Cerberus fleet warps off, leaving the Muninn fleet alone on the gate. At this point we jump in and pounce on the muninn fleet, scything through their logistics wing. The cerbs return at extreme range, picking off the occasional muninn, but the damage to the Muninn fleet was already done with all logistics and links down and Muninns rapidly dying. At this point all imperium fleets left field and entosis was cleared.

All in all a fantastic night with lots of twists, turns, and excellent teamwork by my PAPI colleagues. Deranged octopus did a great job leading the Muninn fleet and it was equalled by Kael/Jeremy in TEST - great stuff and makes me really excited to be back. It really just did keep escalating for 2 hours straight and it was amazing. Oh, also, it's late here, sorry for the relatively poor composition.

EvE Anywhere : the best time to implement cloud settings

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 02:24 AM PDT

With EvE Anywhere coming, it is the best time to let us save our settings in the cloud. That would allow us to have the same window layout / shortcuts / confirmation windows... across all our devices. I simply don't see myself use EvE Anywhere meaningfully if I have to set up every time.

This feature is already present in many, many other online games.

It was asked before, but I didn't find too many posts on r/eve

    What's Changed? Three Years Later

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 09:13 PM PDT

Anything worth coming back to? I logged off in null 3 or 4 years ago with a bunch of characters and ships.

What's different now? Is it really any fun for anyone but blobbers and casual folk? I remember it being difficult to make a real difference as a solo player. Either you hung out for casual roams and system fights, or you multiboxed supers and had buddies who did the same, and you memed on anyone who had less.

Also, no meaningful source of attrition, so wealth begot wealth ad infinitum.

Have times changed much in New Eden?

Skill point resurgence ; false advertisement?

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 11:26 PM PDT

So, I went to buy my omega and got the special offer and laughed about it for the obvious reasons. I then decided to calculate if it's actually a good deal.

It gives 1,620,000 SP for the cost of 43.99

Let's assume your in the "main" bracket for large injectors and they give 400k So 4x400k = 1,600,000 sp Large skill injector = 622,100,000 isk Costing you 2,488,400,000Isk. let's assume your buying the bundle that most fits the amount of plex you would need for bonus plex. Plex is buying at 2,241,000 You would need 1,111 plex to get 2,489,751,000 * not counting market tax, so actually you need more plex. 5% more. 1,167 plex to be safe. So With the goal of that in mind we buy the 1,100 plex bundle for a sweet $40, then buy a 110 plex pack to get us to our goal, so $45 So you spend $1 more plexing but get some isk for your wallet. Yet this is being marketed as normally costing $52.78 and their giving you a WINK discount.

My math might be wrong but I used current pricing and tried to keep it simple.

TLDR don't buy skill resurgence buy plex then sel plex for injectors and end up with millions of spare isk.

Legacy Renters Flee Coalition - Die Anyway

    Posted: 17 Mar 2021 11:08 AM PDT

Three renter alliances have left Legacy coalition over the last 24 hours. All three are your usual run of the mill renter/worker/feeder alliances.

Renter backbone appears to be voting with their feet and now paying rent to the amalgamation of the attacking forces sweeping through the South.
