The evacuation of Fountain has begun

    Posted: 21 Jul 2020 01:15 PM PDT

In addition to numerous reports of isolated titans and supers quietly escaping over this past week, the evacuation of Fountain appears to have now begun in earnest. An unusually large number of freighters and suitcases have been observed transporting goods to the Y-2AN0 keepstar, and multiple fleets from Initiative, Initiative Mercenaries and Dracarys have jumped in to deposit their ships before death cloning back to get more.

Medicins sans Capsuleers are closely monitoring this blossoming crisis and are expected to send a team to provide emergency assistance to the Fountain refugees (Fugees) as they make the perilous journey back to Delve. Our thoughts and prayers are with the line members who have valiantly fought to defend their home from an invasion that is totally not happening, and we sincerely hope that the Goon widot is mercifully quick and painless.

May Bob be with you in these difficult times. o7

Open Letter: The Dream of Providence

    Posted: 21 Jul 2020 09:15 AM PDT

When I first entered Provi in 2014, I was told that Provi was a place for new players and groups to come and experience nullsec without having to join a major bloc. In a way, that was always the blessing and the curse of Provi—lots of residents, but precious few who knew how to fight or felt invested enough to fight to defend the homeland.

I came to Provi because I wanted to organize those groups and help them learn the game. I started and restarted those efforts, with the Naval Defence Academy, the Yulai Academy, the Rogue University, and now The Rogue University. I believed that with organized leadership and guidance, newbros could be formed into an army to help defend the dream of Providence—a land open for new and rising powers.

Throughout every iteration, I sought help from Provibloc leadership, who did almost everything they could to prevent our mission from succeeding. Lack of standings, no docking access, inane paperwork, obscure doctrines, and roundabout diplomatic channels. I came to realize that Provibloc was far from the bloc that it needed to be. It should have been a bloc that embraced new players and groups and helped them grow.

Instead, at every turn, Provibloc leadership were openly and passively hostile to helping these groups, which is why so many recruits, veterans, FCs, CEOs, corps, and even alliances went off to greener pastures, because they tried to help or reform the bloc and were met with hostility. Even worse, Provibloc clung to the idea of NRDS instead of WHY they had NRDS to begin with. To them, NRDS was more important than actually helping and fostering the fledgling groups and players that entered their space.

With each new betrayal, Provibloc had a new excuse. "Provi is trash space they wanted richer space." "They didn't want to join fleets." "X person had X problem with X person." "They were toxic." But Provibloc leadership never seemed to see the obvious thing that I saw—these players joined Provibloc because they KNEW it was poor space, and they joined because they wanted to join Provibloc fleets, wanted to be a part of the larger community, and they believed in the vision of Provibloc. It's like a person that complains about all of their exes, never once realizing that maybe it's not the exes that's the problem.

Still, me and my kind persisted to try and change Provi from the inside. I started Yulai Academy. Aeros and Sky and GR tried to force Care Factor to make the changes needed to modernize. But both attempts failed, because leadership wanted to maintain the untenable status quo. I realize now that our failures in trying to change Provibloc is because Provibloc today is not the guardians of the dream of Provi. Instead, they are more akin to a hermit kingdom—suspicious of outsiders, resistant to change, and staunchly proud and unyielding to change their orthodoxy, maintaining rules without remembering why those rules existed in the first place.

When Aeros, Sky, and GR founded The Rogue Consortium and when I came back to Providence, we both initially and separately tried to change Provibloc by joining and showing them that our ideas would grow the bloc and make Provi a place for new players and groups to come and join and prosper. We offered them a way to realize the dream of Provi with some changes and modernizations.

Provibloc did everything to thwart us. They killed us, claimed we were KOS-pending, refused us access to any fleets, docking, or intel, and called us every name in the book. Finally, we gave up, just as every other corp, leader, and alliance who had previously tried to change Provibloc. But instead of abandoning Provi to the hermit kingdom leaders of Provibloc, Aeros, Sky, GR, and I swore to change things. So we joined RekkingCrew.

Provibloc in the beginning didn't think anything of us. "Disgruntled former employees." "Traitorous C****." "PL's pet's pet's." "Pedophiles." "PL's F***." We didn't mind. We just put our head down and began to grow. We grew our university. We helped new corporations find their footing in PVP and in the game. We killed newbros who came into our space and offered them a spot in our training program.

Slowly, Provibloc began to talk about us differently. We went from being harmless pets to pests. We slowly started forming enough to contest timers in USTZ, to solidly beating Provibloc in USTZ, then to contest in EUTZ, to beating them in EUTZ as well. Near the end, we as The Rogue Consortium and The Rogue University were able to flash from numbers fo fight any gang Provibloc was able to muster. They thought of us as bullies, fighting with the oldest existent group in the game but ignoring the blatant hypocrisy and rot at the core of their bloc, and ignoring how they bullied us when we were trying to help. They are the true traitors to the vision and dream of Provibloc.

Our vision of helping new players, training them, and helping groups grow in Providence is a resounding success. We were right and Provibloc was wrong. Two years ago, they refused to let us help them. Today, we have defeated them. Our vision of Provi is the better and stronger one.

So to Provibloc: don't worry. Your original dream will live on in the enemies who's help you refused, just with the slight change that NRDS will be relegated to the dustbin of history. But Providence will remain a place to let rising alliances and groups and corporations and pilots come and grow, just with different stewards.
